Functional Kitchen Counters

Can we please make kitchen counters functional by storing cooking appliances?

 My Sim is a foodie and so they have many cooking appliances, but that means I have to build a massive kitchen with many, MANY kitchen counters to hold all those appliances. 

Perhaps we can have functional kitchen counters to store said appliances and only take them out when we need to use them (pizza oven, pressure cooker, waffle maker, stand mixer, coffee pot, popcorn maker, etc. etc.)

And no, I don't want to keep them in my inventory because I have too much crap in there already.
