How many just check here to see if they're finally making Events optional?

Holler here if live Events drove you away from the game, so they can see at least a small slice of the people who will just move on and won't ever even tell them why they left.

Please don't post here just to say "I like the Live Events."  That's fine for you, and I'm not trying to take them away from you, but they're not optional for those of us who find they ruin the entire Sims 4 experience.

I haven't played Sims 4 since the Grim Reaper event, which was incredibly disruptive to my ongoing goals in the game.  Once I realized they weren't even responding to the requests to make it optional, I uninstalled the game.  I miss it.  But it's not the same game anymore.

Before this endless lineup of Events, I spent hundreds of dollars on The Sims 4.  I played it to make my own stories, not to have F2P-mobile style bells and whistles demanding I follow a path they set out for me.  So I've been waiting, and waiting, and waiting to hear that they've decided to make these events opt-out WITHOUT REMOVING THE GALLERY alongside it.  I enjoy importing lots others have made; that is NOT the same as wanting live events.

Just one little checkbox somewhere in options: "Disable Live Events", to make it go away.  People who love them can still do them, and people who hate them but are otherwise still fine spending money on your products can come back and enjoy all the xpacks you release in the future.

Or give an explanation as to why you refuse to make them optional for otherwise happy paying players.  The silence is deafening.

Would be very curious to see how many other forum-checkers other than myself have uninstalled/quit the Sims 4 until this specific change is made.

  • Thank you for bringing this up. I don't have much interest in the special events, though I appreciate that they are available for other players. They do, in fact, drive me away from playing. For me, personally, having the events overing in the top left corner is constant irritant.

I am afraid I don't enjoy the special short-term events. Please give us a way to make them invisible. I play on a small screen and  have poor medium-distance vision. Having that top left of the screen constantly devoted to them is a constant background annoyance for my playstyle. I appreciate the effort you put into them, but please give us the option not to participate.

Please have a way to disable event pop ups and decline participating in the events.  I do not wish to play them and the pop ups and icon on the menu are driving me crazy.  They seem to be so often now.

Exactly. This'd make a great end of the year update or SDX drop for December when we rarely get anything.

  • I do them reluctantly because of FOMO, but it should be an option, and the rewards given free eventually in an update (even if it is weeks/months later). So people who do like events get the rewards first, people who want to skip can, and in the end no one ever misses out.
