Ideas for Missing Skills in Crown & Legacy + Pirate GP Concept 👑🏴☠️
Hi everyone!
I wanted to share some ideas for expanding the depth of the new Crown & Legacy expansion. While the world and new systems are beautiful, having only one major skill (Jousting/Sword Fighting) feels like a missed opportunity for such a rich royal setting.
Suggested Court & Nobility Skills:
- Etiquette (Level 10 Major): Essential for court life. Lower levels could cause social faux pas at royal dinners, while higher levels unlock flawless curtsies, formal greetings, and reputation boosts with high society.
- Rhetoric/Diplomacy (Level 5 Minor): Useful for negotiating royal decrees, handling scandals, and ideally cross-integrating with the Base Game Politics career.
- Calligraphy (Level 10 Major): A beautiful desk-based skill for writing elegant invitations, royal documents, and masquerade ball invitations.
- Genealogy & Heraldry (Level 5 Minor): Research family trees, discover noble lineages, and unlock custom coat-of-arms designs for Dynasties.
- Court Art (Level 5 Minor): A specialized painting skill for creating royal family portraits for throne rooms and galleries.
The Pirate Gameplay Pack Theory 🏴☠️
Verdemar's gorgeous port gives off huge seafaring vibes, so it feels like the perfect foundation for a dedicated Pirate Gameplay Pack. Since it's been a long time since our last GP (Werewolves), this could introduce a deeper nautical system without needing to be part of the expansion itself.
A Pirate GP could add:
- Piracy (Level 10 Major): Plunder ships, smuggle goods through the port, and decipher treasure maps.
- Navigation (Level 5 Minor): Improve a Sim's ability to safely travel through storms and explore unknown waters.
- Cartography (Level 5 Minor): Map uncharted islands and locate sunken wrecks or hidden treasures.
And this wouldn't necessarily require an open-world ocean. To keep it realistic for the Sims 4 engine, pirate ships could work like Rocket Ships or the Sulani cave: interactive rabbit holes with text-based adventures. A Sim's Navigation, Cartography, or Piracy level could influence the outcome of storms, ship battles, exploration, and the historical loot they bring home to their kingdoms.
Splitting these ideas between the expansion and a focused Pirate GP could make sense for both gameplay depth and EA's DLC model. What do you think? Would you like to see these skills added to Crown & Legacy, or would you be interested in a dedicated Pirate GP?
