Infants are my personal hell

Nope, it's not even because of the challenging quirks. I like challenges. I hate stupid. I dread everytime I had to age up a newborn because the adults around the infants WILL TURN OFF THEIR BRAIN and I'm not even talking autonomy off here.

Why would you call your wife who was showering to feed the baby when YOU ARE STANDING IN FRONT OF THE INFANT??? Why would you hand over the infant to your husband who was literally sitting on the toilet???? When you are HOLDING SAID INFANT??? And I'm telling YOU to do it??? Check Infant > Pick Up > Put Down > Check Infant > Pick Up > Put Down rinse repeat.

God forbid you travel into another lot because the infant milestone will stop working unless you restart your game. I saw other people just straight up skipping the infant stage by aging them up, which is valid, but gosh I just..... want to play the game, yknow????????

  • Each time I had an infant in the household I had to turn off autonomy because it's just really bad game design to have other Sim (stupid) autonomy override my commands for anything infant related.

Like recently this infant is hungry, so I had a Sim put her in high chair to explore food. Right before she eats, she calls her father from the bathroom to pick her up for what???? YOU ARE ABOUT TO EAT OR BE HUNGRY. Then the Sim that I re-tasked to feed her goes idle because another Sim from TWO STORIES down autonomously "Check Infant" and cancelling the autonomy ALSO cancels the task I assigned to the other Sim. C'mon devs.....

I think usually this is because the infant has already autonomously asked the other parent for something, even if that something is what the closer parent is trying to do, and for some reason the infant’s autonomous actions override even player-directed actions for all other sims. You need to cancel the action in the infant’s queue, not the adult’s. And if a sim is stuck just staring at an infant? Reset that infant, not the stuck sim.

I agree it’s frustrating that you can get social services threatening to take the kid away because they’re hungry, but they’re too busy fussing about how hungry they are to let you feed them. 🤦🏼‍♀️

  • Sadly, EA tanked the best part of the game when they screwed up the whole pre-child stages.  But that's what they do, they take something that is working fine and screw it up...need more proof: Wedding Stories.  Now, my sims don't do weddings - if they start single, meet someone, build a relationship - they elope because weddings suck now.  And if I want my sim families to have kids, I build them into the household in CAS because everything about having babies, caring for them, teaching the to walk, talk, play, etc. has been ruined.  Even if you 'force age-up,' the curse of EA lingers and your teen has hiccups for the rest of their life.

Everything that was good about growing a family in The SIms 4 has been trashed.

  • Totally with you on this! There is no rhyme or reason with the way it acts. I get so worried the social services will snatch my baby because of it, as sometimes the baby's needs will drop dangerously low because of the glitching and no way to click on the baby to cheat those needs.

  • Like.......... is there any mod to stop one parent from calling the other parent WHEN THEY ARE IN FRONT OF THE INFANT AND I'M TELLING THEM TO DO THE TASK?????????????? I feel like I'm going insane???????????????????????
