Yeah, I haven’t sent any of my teens to high school ( in Copperdale) since I heard of this problem because I also play with aging off and don’t want them expelled either. I would rather to be able to toggle being expelled off or reinroll them like others are talking about, this is supposed to game where the player has control, so please give us that control….
I just want to mention something. Playing with aging off is not the problem. That is the only way I play and I have successful high schoolers. Prior to having successful ones, I did notice a problem that would lead to my teen getting expelled and I figured out what to do about it. This will not help if your teen is already expelled, but it will help you prevent it from happening on future teens.
So when it is time for our teens to go to school we get the pop up asking us if we want to join them or send them alone. You do not want to send them alone UNTIL they are A students and at the top of their class. So starting off I join my teen at school and make sure they use the bookshelf to study for the exam. Immediately when school ends for the day, I have them start their homework right there in the classroom and click on the teacher and ask for homework help because that speeds it up a lot. Then I will do the same for the extra credit. It doesn't take long for the teen to become an A student this way. I do not enroll them in any of the after school activities or jobs until they have become an A student. Once they have become an A student, you will no longer have to follow them to school. Just make sure they do their homework, extra credit and occasionally the school projects that are sent home. But you don't have to have them do every single one though it is helpful if they are getting skill gains from it. And make sure to have the "Good Schools" lot trait active on the lot. That is really important. Doing things this way had made my teens succeed every time. They just cannot do it on their own at first. You have to get them there.
