Move More Recipes to "Bake" Menu

I understand that the technical reason that the list of true "Baking" recipes is so small is because the Baking skill is exclusive to Get To Work, but from a user's perspective, it's unnecessarily confusing and doesn't make any sense. I often see other players confused because they see a "Bake" menu on the fridge, but they don't find the recipes for the cakes or cookies they're looking for under it. And many of the Baking recipes are just different flavors of corresponding Cooking recipes, so even to a player like me who's already used to which recipes are on which list, it's frustratingly inconsistent. It doesn't make any sense that sugar cookies, fruit pie, and bread are Baking recipes. But chocolate chip cookies, blueberry pie, and milk bread are Cooking recipes.

At this point, having the "Bake" menu be so limited makes the skill feel completely worthless since it's irrelevant to most of the vast number of recipes in the game. I think it would make sense to patch the Baking skill into the base game if that's what it takes to move those recipes into a more appropriate skill. Moving more recipes into the "Bake" menu might even help with the extreme amount of lag that occurs when clicking "Cook" on the fridge. But I think it's worth doing for clarity and consistency's sake alone.

  • @batsandbabydolls and @GiardiniDiMarzo , I agree!  This really got crazy when cupcakes were freed from only being made in the Cupcake Machine, though it was a problem before that!  We should have baking be base game and have only the recipes that came with Get to Work be available if you have GTW!  That way you still get the extra content if you buy or have bought GTW, but still have the base game recipes that really should be under baking available to everybody, and hopefully reduce the cooking menu a bit! 😊

  • @batsandbabydolls I wish they would separate the cakes and cookies because don't cook them you bake them same thing with pie, cupcakes, cinnamon roll, biscuits, cheese cakes, bake chicken, turkey...etc.

@Briana2526 Ah, here is another problem! Technically, yes, chicken, ham, casseroles, and turkey, can be baked. But they do not fall in the category of baked goods, which are those sold in a Bakery. In fact, many chefs do not know how to bake, and many bakers usually don't serve other foods (even a baked chicken) in their stores. Baking of baked goods usually requires that the recipe is adhered to, more than a recipe for other types of foods.  I've noticed this watching many years of shows like Top Chef and other cooking shows, where a lot of even some of the best chefs would balk at baking for a competition, though recently I have seen more chefs try to embrace baking and incorporate some of it into their "bag of tricks". 😊
