Though I have been using a mod to force these two traits to work together, I'd prefer official compatibility because it mucked up my household gallery file as CC, I have no CC items, just modded tuning file.
Otherwise, I'd like to report my findings that I think that Mystical/Macabre is a great to amazing combo. The Mystical self applied and social interactions, mixed with the Macabre's Ghastly Gavotte and Spread the Gloom just jive so well together in fun campiness. Your Sim totally comes across as an eccentric, strange and unusual character. Both of the traits seem to be fine going between anonymous Mystical and Macabre actions. Both reading peoples auras and Spreading the Gloom very often and seemingly balanced. No one trait seems to be overly overpowering another.
On a side note I also made this Sim Romantically Reserved, and am loving this trio combo with her polar opposite partner who is Disruptive/Romantic/Jealous. Between Disruptive->Mystical and maybe the Romantic->Romantically Reserved opposites often get both moodlets and sentiments about opposites attract/refreshingly different.
I do honestly feel there is more effort in newer traits, and I am very much enjoying them, they just have to change this, and try not to make more incompatible traits without clear opposites in the future.
