Please make Prom night compatible with all kinds of players.

Prom every weekend is only compatible with short lifespans. I read this decision was made with rotational players in mind, but please consider the experience of us Simmers who play it on long lifespans too. You could simply let us schedule our own Prom nights, or at least add an option in the gameplay settings menu to choose how often Prom appears on our calendars.

I think Developers should prioritize Sim lifespans and season lengths when designing major life events like these, rather than if they play rotationally or not. Because Rotational players are still able to enjoy them by timing their rotations correctly, but non-rotational players have no other options for them other than questioning their sim's life unless the developer helps them out TwT

In general, default settings for major life events (like Prom) should be compatible with long lifespans and long seasons, rather than the shorter ones. Why? Because if a Simmer turns off aging entirely, it only means they want to play with a single Sim even longer than the long lifespan. If this is annoying for long lifespan Simmers too, imagine how frustrating it is for those who play with aging completely turned off. Wouldn't it make sense to have default settings to be compatible with long lifespan? And if a Simmer wants to play short or medium lifespans/seasons, major events like Prom should automatically adjust to fit when they select short or medium lifespan in the gameplay settings menu. Please consider this. Thank you :)

I think the smarter thing to do would be to have an option where it allows us to choose if we want it every week or only if the teen sim in your household is a week off from aging up.

Yesss that would be perfect! TBH as long as they don't spam me with constant Prom nights I'll be happy with any solution they can implement.

There's a mod I'm using that makes prom every second week, and another that only allows for festival notifications if you're living in the world. (You can turn on ones you want even if you don't live there but I keep it on the default setting). They both help to be honest.

  • Hell, I AM a rotational player and I don't like weekly prom. I am rotational, sure, but i play with Long lifespans, and have aging off for all but the played household (and unplayed one time per rotation) so I still experience all the days a Long lifespan brings, and they are still getting prompted to go to Prom many times during their teen years without mods. Prom should be something a teen does ONCE. I use the Calendar Tweaks mod which lets you choose when Prom happens. But there are a few potential solutions, like scaling things differently for different lifespans, (really, this should be done for many things, not just prom. I use mods in a large part so i can rebalance the game around Long lifespans, but it should be balanced differently for different lifespans by default) letting us choose when it appears, or as suggested, tying it to when the teen is set to age up. That option, yeah you may miss it if you opted to graduate early, but that would be what happens in real life too.

Yes, this exactly!! I play TS4 on console (Xbox) and it's insanely frustrating being pestered about prom every week when I play families with teen sims. Events/holidays should automatically adjust to fit whatever lifespan the player chooses.

I would really like the option to schedule when prom is. In my current playthrough my third gen heir had a girlfriend in high school (I don't normally do that but I wanted to see what it was like) and I only wanted them to go to prom right before they aged up, so I said "no" to the prom prompts and they both got a "Disappointed crush didn't ask them to prom" sentiment about each other. There is absolutely no need for them to go to more than one prom. I also think the justification about rotational players sounds like an excuse for it being poorly thought out.

  • Checking with CM but this will probably be moved to feedback.

Please remember that this is the bug forum and is about things not working as intended.

Closing this for more upvotes atm so I'm setting this to incomplete.

crinrict Oh. I apologize for posting this on the bug reports section. The Feedback section does not have a voting system. That is why I thought it would be best to post it here. The prom night every weekend is only one frustration that's being highly talked about in any social media platform. Very highly discussed that I am quiet convinced that people would want this to be fixed as much as or if not more than they wanted to see the sabotage option fixed (the most voted bug fix in the recent update) The voting system was the only way to confirm if my conviction was correct TwT... It would not happen again though. Would try my best to figure out where my posts should go next time :)

I want to let you guys know that we're really happy about the 150+ bug fixes. But a lot of Simmers also want the developers to know that at times what makes the game frustrating and less enjoyable is not always the bugs but some things like these that are simply not compatible with major player styles (as bugs are quiet common in any video game, I guess sometimes gamers tend to just accept them. Although all bug fixes are always always really appreciated <3). A recent Reddit post I made about this same thing also gained quiet a lot of attraction from Simmers of different playstyles. Some Simmers in the comment section said they're frustrated by all festivals in the game not only prom and want a whole calendar refresh. Some talked about the event reminder system being broken eg: one Simmer's musician in Del Sol Valley keeps missing the Starlight Accolade by accident because there's no reminder but yet they have to deal with the loud football music jump scare constantly. Some want an option for ignoring HSY events completely because they don't want their Adults and Senior Citizens to constantly have to go to football and cheerleading. Some rotational play Simmers said the game is not compatible for rotational play style in many other ways and the Prom night doesn't really improve much.

Thank you very much for any attention you guys could give to this matter!

Also I really hope Feedback section also had a voting system so Simmers can express their frustrations about problems that are not bugs effectively. This might just be me but sometimes I also feel like the feedback section doesn't receive that much attention from the developers. Why I say that is because Sometimes I see people post their bug reports in Feedback section but those posts don't seem to get much attention...

    Thank you and much Love!

  • Short life span rotational player here, if they add a different option in the menu great, but EA please also keep the current setup option of every week. Honestly very little in this game is set up with compatibility for short life span, and even less for rotational. University is the ultimate example. We treasure what little gifts we get
