    Yea, just save the adult sim with their adult siblings and parents in your library. Save the spouses and kids separately in the library. Starting a new save, just start with the main household with the grandparents and adult kids. You then move out all the kids separately into their own households. The next step is to take the adult kids in CAS, get the spouse and kids from the library and merge the household. The last step is to fix those relationships in CAS. Setting up a clean new save can sometimes take me about 2 to 5 hours. It is worth it to avoid corruption.

In Sims 3 we had the fire meter to tell us when we had reached our limits, it was annoying but it did have it's benefits. Something like that even just as a guide would be useful now, particularly with the size of Sims 4. I can tell if I have too much on a retail lot because it starts to go incredibly slowly, so I learned to limit store sizes. I can also tell if there's too much in a Household Inventory because emptying it takes forever but it's harder to tell with home lots and personal inventories. 

It's an issue particularly on console and I'm quite diligent in clearing inventories and Townies to reduce my game storage. I know setting guide limits might be tricky as it varies by platform and I know we've been given advice lately on cutting lags but I can definitely see the merits of this suggestion.
