Refresh Cats and Dogs Expansion Pack
I think Cats & Dogs may be the pack with MOST need of a refresh, possibly an unpopular opinion.
Cats & Dogs just doesn’t hit the mark like so many other expansions do, as a many times over dog owner, I just feel like they could have done so much more.
Here are some of my ideas
- Update pets to click on and view sim profiles, inventory, relationships, family tree, skills, etc. I don’t think we need to control them, but I want to be able to see all those sim panels. At the VERY least, give us what horses have, you can see their skills on their profile
- cats/dogs training tricks have a skill bar (for each or lumped together), and skills for hunting, and obedience, maybe even a social skill, and a potty training skill (I feel like my puppies are spotty trained like immediately)
- pet competitions for pets to compete and earn an income, rabbit hole that gives random ribbons and prizes. Pet training skill for both sim and pet impact performance
- looooots of tuning, lower chance of sickness, lower chance of running away, *play with other pets more* (depending on traits) - ugh it feels like they never play with other animals
- go look for lost dog/cat interaction where sims go into rabbit hole and have a 10% chance of finding them
- add fear training, to help them get over fears
- let’s dogs swim in the pool! And autonomously! (I think they can already do this, but I don’t think I have EVER seen it
- train puppies, simple commands like sit, lay down, and stay
- allow kids to walk the dog
- walk 2 dogs at once per sim
- walk dogs together interaction where multiple sims walk multiple dogs together, like a hike from snowy escape. Also I haven’t used the hike interaction much but if you can’t bring dogs, update allows you to bring dogs on a hike
- dogs and cats sleep on the bed with sims (I feel like cats can do this??)
- new pet beds, and smaller pet beds for large dogs, maybe even a training crate option
- more obstacle coarse colors or versions
- a couple new toy boxes (specifically a woven toy basket) and a few new toys, it would be super cool to see a mental stimulation toy too!
- more harnesses in CAS, and perhaps another collar or two, and matching jammies set with the whole family
- i would also love for dogs/cats to hunt for crystals and collectibles again, the bird feathers are cute, but I want more options
*Cross Pack Compatibility*
- Nifty Knitting: Knittable clothing for cats and dogs (nifty knitting)
- Cottage Living: dogs chase foxes more, I have heard that maybe this is a thing but I have never seen it
- My Wedding Stories: let dogs be the flower pal or ring bearer!
- Growing Together: add family dynamic with the cats/dogs! How cute would it be if the cat was like best friends with the daughter and wanted nothing to do with the father and it would make it harder for the father to build a relationship with the cat - cats & dogs are apart of the family!

Edit: okay one last idea I had to throw in, what if there was a part time Dog Trainer career where dogs appear on your lot and you train them or go to a rabbit hole?
