Clearly Mermaids are in dire need of an update. I'll defer to what has been already suggested on this thread. To put my two cents in there should at least be a shift to a similar Mermaid skills tree similar to Vampires etc.
I think there should be a Mermaid quest for a Neptune's Trident but only for the Mermaids
New Food - Some should be offered in Island Living as well.
