Suggestion: Baking Stuff Pack

Hi. I thought I would start a thread here for other simmers who might be interested in this idea. I really want to have a baking skill in game. Base game has cooking and gourmet cooking but not baking which currently you need Get To Work for. However, Get To Work is too expensive for  simmer who might only want it for the baking skill. I think it would be  a good idea to make another cheaper pack like a stuff pack that would add in the baking skill along with some related build/buy items (and maybe CAS, aprons for example). Not all of us can justify spending money on an expansion pack if all we want is one little skill. It would be even better if baking was added to the base game for free like was done with photography, but I realize that might be asking for too much so I would be willing to settle for a stuff pack or other cheaper pack option other than an expansion pack that adds the baking skill. I also thought I would start this thread for other simmers who want to add in additional comments on this topic and upvote it to show EA what level of demand there is for something like this. If you agree, upvote this post and if you have anything you want to add to this idea, comment with your thoughts and ideas.

If they do make a baking stuff pack that makes baking a base game skill, they should finally reclassify cakes as baking. That is really annoying that you "cook" a cake instead of bake it, though since baking is currently locked behind the purchase of Get To Work, and cakes are crucial for manually aging up sims in base game, I get why it is the way it is now. But I think making a stuff pack centered around baking could help them fund the shift of the baking skill to be being base game. And making it base game would address this annoying fact that you cook cakes in Sims 4 instead of bake them. And if they added in a lot of stuff connected with the baking skill like new recipes, build/buy items, etc. could help make the pack attractive to players who already have the skill via Get To Work which would bring in more money for EA. If they don't see the money in an idea, it would be more difficult to convince them to go and do it.

I agree singing should be base game as well. They mention in all the base game showers that they add to the singing skill, but then currently you have to buy a whole expansion pack, City Living to get that skill. I want my sims to be able to sing in the shower without having to buy a full expansion pack that I am not sure I would otherwise use to do that.

I like the idea of adding recipes from all over the sims worlds for baking into a pack like this. If they added in several new recipes that were unique to this pack it could help justify this pack's existence for reasons other than Get To Work is too expensive for just one skill.

That's what I'm thinking. Photography became base game because of Moschino Stuff Pack, but it also added in stuff that was unique to that pack that you couldn't get in Get To Work. I think they could do something similar with baking.

  • I would really like a bakery geared towards baking bread not cakes. With a big wood fired stone oven for baking. The oven could be used to make pizza too, or even to glaze the ceramic pots, but you could make all kind of breads with it, baguettes, focaccia, ciabatta, sourdough, potato bread, etc.

I agree. 📣 Baking for Base Game!

Then we can actually bake a cake, instead of cook a cake.

There have been a lot of player requests for Baking to be included as a Base Game skill. Doing so wouldn't diminish GtW in the slightest since that pack has an entire Retail System, 3 Active Careers, plus Aliens, as it's main exclusive features.

(Similar Note 🎵: Singing should also be a Base Game skill.)

  • Creating a baking-centric item pack is a logical, accessible, popular, and realistic idea for EA. It addresses a real-world need without forcing players to purchase a full expansion just for a specific skill.

  • Yes! More stuff packs centered on cooking, baking foods from all over the sims worlds.

Cooking is a lucrative business in the Sims 4.

When sims eat the foods they love they tend to get fat...and they always come back for more.

Your athletic trainer or yoga zen guru comes into play if you don't eat the ice cream cheat.

Edit: the game is all about Connections.

Connecting gameplay with all the DLC we have in the sims 4.

  • I feel like if they did this they would have to make baking base game, like what happened with photography. If they made the stuff pack worth it by adding enough content it could work.
