Toilet lids

I swear I've mentioned this elsewhere but I can't find the post.

PLEASE make an option for sims to have closed toilets. Open toilets are just so gross. There doesn't even need to be additional animation since the action is blurred out. Just additional toilet swatches or something. And that prevents toddlers or pets from interacting with the toilets also.

Thank you!

  • Agreed! Especially for the dogs drinking from the loo. I keep locking the bathroom door to pets but lately the dogs seem to need bathing more often. I have to unlock the door to bathe the pooch then call freshly washed pooch out of the bathroom, then lock the door again. If there were lids I'd be spared this annoyance.

The daft thing is all my Sims get the Steel Bladder reward trait so they don't even need loos in the house unless they've been on the nectar, but bathrooms look weird without them 🤣.

  • Interactive toilet lids should definitely be a thing to stop dogs and toddlers interacting with them.

  • TBH, I am one who always puts the lids down IRL and it drives me nuts when people leave it up, so looking at you Sims!

Plus if Neat/Perfectionist they should put the lid down autonomously! Like when they'd make beds and wash hands in Sims 3 XD

Yeah I'm so annoyed that it can't be stopped unless you shift-click the dog or reroute the toddler (or lock the doors as simsplayer818 said

I use that trait a lot too (if only because I wish I had this trait in real life, haha. Also, I agree it looks weird to have a bathroom without a loo and even in vampire households I add one for their guests lol

I suppose another workaround could be having a Japanese-style bathroom (I'm sure it's not limited to them, just that I've seen that set up sometimes), where the toilet has its own closet and such.

  • This is something I never thought about, but now I'll be thinking about it all the time when I play

    I'm not sorry lol

at least we have the shoes in the house options, and the over/under toilet paper rolls, so I feel we should have this one too ;)

  • It would require some texture edits to remove painted in shadows from the lids, and in a few cases some re-modeling because the lid isn't a separate aspect of the mesh itself. In a few cases the toilets don't even have a lid to close it with, so they would have to be added to them. And in those cases there isn't any room for lids on the texture map, so they'd have to redo the textures and so this quickly becomes a lot of work for such a small visual detail. But those toilets could be left alone with no lid, so maybe in that case it could be do-able. Otherwise this would have to be incorporated into the gameplay design of the toilets from the ground up, which can only happen with a new entry in the series.

It is a detail I would like too, but I'm not sure if it would be worth the effort.
