Update to Gallery on the web removed major functionalities

There isn't a specific section of the forums where concerns about the web platform go, so this is the only place that vaguely suits this topic.

A recent update to the Gallery on the web has brought a much-needed facelift to the web platform, however, this visual update no longer includes cornerstone features of the Gallery, such as being able to search for users by name, view their profiles, and loss of the Following menu. Previous to this update, the Gallery on the web was the only place to view uploads of the people you're following, and now there is no need to follow anyone, as there isn't a way to view an ordered list in-game either, meaning that the feature no longer serves a purpose.

As browsing the Gallery on the web is typically much faster and more reliable than in-game, this is a pretty significant loss in functionality for users of the Gallery on the web. I frequently use it to browse creations by users I like and want to recommend, and keep up to date on people's creations. Most uploads to the Gallery use very vague naming conventions such as using the original name of the lot (e.g., "Crick Cabana") or extremely simple terms (e.g., "Townie Dump A"), which makes locating on the gallery excessively difficult.

Hello nempne, you are still able to search by name or hashtag on the web version of the Gallery under the discover section.

I just came to leave basically the same feedback.

Searching by EA ID was really nice to do when away from the game. I used it to check the people I followed and to track how my build DLs on my whole profile were going. Now I can't do either of those things easily. I can't find a way to see all of a user's builds anymore. If I want to check my builds, I have to search for the whole title of my build. It's really inconvenient.

I would love to have the ability to search for EA ID and view profile back again.

The new update today on the web gallery strips the hashtags from the description. Instead, they are separated from the description and lumped into a little box with all hashtags.

My builds tend to have descriptions mixed in the description instead of a mess of hashtags lumped at the end, such as:

'4bd/5ba #basegame #loft home made for #avaricracres in #Newcrest. [Description of build follows]"

When viewing on the updated gallery, it says:

"4bd/5ba home made for in. [Description of build follows]"

I understand wanting to have the tags separate in a collection as the new gallery does now, but it messes up the descriptions for users like me that use the hashtags mixed in to the actual description.

Can we have both, inline and a separate block of tags, or go back to the old style hashtags instead of removing the hashtags completely from the description?

I too have encountered this, as it is also how I add hashtags within my descriptions. Given that descriptions are short, it makes sense to use them in this manner. This is a more accessible approach to adding hashtags rather them grouping them in at the end where they become very hard to read and comprehend, especially for users like me who have vision troubles. I think the proposed option provided here is great.

I noticed that this topic was mentioned within another post, but I felt it was important to highlight it further, as it significantly affects the descriptions and the stories within them (of the households, rooms and builds that are shared to the Gallery) in the Website Gallery.

The problem is, that many of us have been using the method to include the hashtags within and as a part of the description text, because it also saves space, considering the limited size of the description, and also because it makes sense not to repeat the same words multiple times (like: first one word and then again that same word repeated with a hashtag in front of it). So now, after the update, many of the descriptions look strange and confusing - and don't make sense - because the update has moved the hashtags and grouped them all together at the end.

This really significantly affects the descriptions (of the households, rooms and builds) and the stories within them. For example, in this one Gallery upload, a sim (household) that I shared to the Gallery, has a also a story in the description, and this is how that description and the story now looks in the website Gallery:

Please Do Not Re-upload.. Made By: My Entry for the Challenge ~ Esmeralda is a who loves nature and well-being. She has a and style that applies equally to her clothing and her preferred interior decór. She wants to open her own Yoga Studio, where she also plans to give lectures on .

And this is how it is supposed to look like with those hashtags that I used within the text:

Please Do Not Re-upload.#PlayFair. Made By#Aaleyn: My Entry for the#GLovelysQCC159 Challenge ~ Esmeralda is a #bohemian #woman who loves nature and well-being. She has a #unique #vibrant and #bold style that applies equally to her clothing and her preferred interior decór. She wants to open her own Yoga Studio, where she also plans to give lectures on #wellness.

I've also attached a picture to illustrate this problem.

I really hope that this hashtag thing will be changed back to the way it was before, in the website Gallery.

I think the change was due to feedback. Many simmers, like myself, see hashtags so overused and unnecessary in the gallery descriptions. I know when I used to search by hashtag, it came up with the results shown that were not what I searched.

Prov31Simmer in the case you mentioned, it's a different matter. You are saying about hashtags being used excessively and irrelevantly, which is a different issue from the one described in my post.
