I also think that some things should not take as long as they do! It has never taken me an hour to eat any meal!!! Now cooking and eating can easily take that long, Showers, I would look wrinkly after a 45-60 minute shower or by soaking in tub for over an hour!
With Snowy Escapes, I don't let my sims use the ski lift if they have the ability to "teleport" as the ski-lift takes so long sometimes!
LoveStruck has a picnic blanket that allows you to picnic. I understand that the drawback to the picnic blanket is that it only seats 2 sims. Cottage Living has a picnic basket that you can really put stuff in for a family picnic. Personally, I prefer the Outdoor retreat as it allows, well, I have had 12 sims standing/sitting around the campfire, roasting things on the campfire, stoking the fire, singing songs, playing music. As far as family and friends group activities, this one is one of my favorites! Of course, The bon fire on the beach is another of my favorites from the Island Living Pack. hint: when using the campfire for large socials, only allow 3 of the seating to actually "attach" to the fire pit; the stumps will "catch" like they do with chairs & dining tables/desks just set them so the don't "catch". I have log benches around the single stumps with space to allow sims to stand or sit on the ground near the campfire. Bonfire only permits standing.
