A question about the new kit

Can the new night light keep the monster away from your sim's toddler/children's beds?

@PugLove888I so far just have the one brand new game I'm rebuilding with a backup save and it's definitely not working on this one. But in my previous saves (that I lost due to error codes or crashing) I had monsters with it as well, it's my favourite one to use and seems to be the common factor. This new Sim I'm bringing back today has a little bedroom ready for her arrival from the children's home (😭) so I'll test it again on this lot which is the Narwhal Arms converted into a quirky bungalow.

Edit: I thought I'd posted the image of poor little Linus freaking out but I hadn't so I'm attaching it now, bless him. This is from a couple of weeks ago. I don't have the Werewolves pack so I couldn't say about the light from that pack. Testing again on my current household has the other nightlights working but not the Starry one. So I think I've confirmed that in my game now. Thank you for helping me figure it out! My little Sims thank you too lol (they're not so happy with me for the experiments though lol).

@simsplayer818 It still bothers me that the Stary NIghtlight isn't working in your game ! 🤔 🧐🤷‍♀️😭 But at least I was able to help you somewhat, even if it took a while! If you ever find out what the deal is with your Starry Nightlight, please update us!  And I hope all your little Sims (and their parents!) have a blissful night's sleep! 🥰

Are any of the nightlights supposed to prevent toddler nightmares? Because I could have sworn they used to, but even the base game Defender nightlight doesn't seem to anymore for me. Though there could be something else going on with my save, because I've twice now reopened my game to find the Defender light has turned into the basic non-monster-preventing base game night light, and had to swap it back again. Odd little bug. None of the rest of my build gets dropped and nothing seems to have been lost in game play... just the one object getting switched out occasionally. I've been trying to figure out if there's any way I could be doing it myself accidentally, but even if I had grabbed the wrong one originally how would it come back again after I fixed it?

@PipMenace I haven't raised any toddlers recently (but that's going to change with the baby update!), but last I knew toddlers don't get nightmares - only children. And I never remember a nightlight autonomously changing to another item for me. However, items are sometimes switched out for something the game sees as a 'logical substitute' if you place something that had items you don't own in your game (such as from a pack you don't own). But it doesn't sound like this is applicable in your case. Do you have a Mod that changes toddler or similar dynamics that could be interfering and causing the toddler nightmares?

@SheriGR It's a no-mods save, and since it's swapping one base game item for another I doubt it's caused by somehow forgetting that I own something. For now I'll just accept that as a bugged save unless I see it again in others. It's still playable, just weird.

What does happen consistently in all my saves, however, is my toddlers waking up with nightmares almost every night. Sometimes multiple times each night, even with a night light present. I swear the night light used to prevent them...

@PipMenace Silly me... I was associating what you're talking about with monsters (the 'Coolala, the Defender Wall Light' - and certain other night lights works for that, but only children get the monster scare). I guess I never noticed that they can wake up scared. I just asked a friend about it and she said she usually avoids this by reading the toddler to sleep. (Thanks, @MapleSimmer ) I do have my Sims read them to bed usually, though, so maybe that's why I never noticed this?

Just a thought... Sims will wake up to tv, music, chimes, etc, and sometimes pets will wake them. I doubt that's what you're mentioning, though.

You may want to make sure the toddler's needs are as full as possible when they go to sleep, too.

@PipMenace. Toddler nightmares can be prevented by raising one of the skills. I think it's the Thinking skill. You'll see a notification about sleeping better through the night.
