That is kind of you to say, and I do thank you for flagging the team.
However with that being said, even your words (as polite as they are) still offer me no comfort for my loss.
All I want is my epitaphs back (ones I put hours of work into), and if EA could just simply assure me, "Don't worry, we will get your epitaphs back." or if not that than, "Could we perhaps offer you a free kit to compensate for your lost work?" then I would happily let this matter rest and, most importantly, feel appreciated as a customer.
Perhaps I'd even be willing to spend another $40 on the newest expansion.
But sadly, seeing as no assurance has been given to me that I will get them back, nor any compensation offered in return...then I can only assume EA does not truly care for me as a customer.
This is a terribly unfortunate thing, because if they cannot be recovered, the second option of giving out a $5 kit would certainly not threaten a BILLION dollar company financially.
As when someone purchases a game pack; rather for $4.99 or $39.99, what they receive is not even real, it is an item that cannot be held in your hands nor resold, and has absolutely no value in the real world. The only value it has, is the fact that a person is willing to spend their real, hard earned cash on it.
This reminds me of something which happened to me in the game "Destiny" many years ago:
Both me and my father used to be avid players of both Destiny and Destiny2 for years, until a single incident occurred in which, my father purchased $10 worth of "SIlver dust" on his Xbox one and never received it. We contacted both Microsoft and Bungie. Microsoft told us that because the time in which it could be fixed on their end had expired, we would have to take the issue to Bungie.
That game company treated us very poorly, and to shorten a long story, we were never given our $10 back, and out case was left forgotten in the mud by them.
My father was so upset and hurt by this, that he vowed never to play Destiny again until he was given his stolen money back. And since the sole reason I played that game was because I enjoyed doing so with him, I stopped playing as well. Neither of us have opened Destiny since.
My point is that, during all these years Bungie had continued to develop Destiny2 (with new DLC and what not), we would have gladly continued to invest in both our copies of the game had we not felt worthless in the company's eyes.
But sadly the hundreds of dollars we may have given to them are forever lost. And all because they were too stingy to part with a small amount of imaginary in game currency in order to keep two players who had been loyal for years.
I would sorely hope EA not to be like this, I would like to think that you care for your player base, I really would... But I just cannot see how I can, if all one receives is a extravagant apology letter, and the simple promise to do better in the future...
