Apartment Issues

I recently built an apartment building with ten apartments. Is that too many? I ask because they never seem to interact with each other. They also go to the roof deck to cook food on the grill to the point that I had to remove the grill. It's as if they don't recognize their own stove.

Also, so they can hang out more or better, I was thinking of making an entire floor just one apartment instead of two or three so I could get them to interact more.

Thoughts?

  • I might be wrong as I did not pay atention to any patched changes, but originally there is a 6 units limit per lot. So I assume you used a mod to get 10 units? If so, try without that mod, and see if the renters will behave differently.

  • I have yet to play with apartments, but from what I've read from other players, it seems they don't hang out together in the common spaces of an apartment building.

  • There is a recommended limit of 6 apartments having more can lead to issues with severe lag. Unfortunately NPC sims do not interact much with each other. Having a grill in the common area means a lot of free food for your own family if they live there. You will also note that in parks and elsewhere it is popular to grill. You can see more of the tenants in common areas with training equipment's and computers there. They might even chat with each other while using these. Making 1 room apartments will have zero influence on how much they interact.

I used the Sims cheat (I have NO mods and NO CC) to allow for ten apartments. Surely, using their cheat should not cause issues.
