Asking for help, I have a few questions about Sims 4.
Hello, I want to say this is a good community, everyone seems respectful and thorough in their discussions. I have a few questions about Sims 4 on Xbox one but if you're on PC, your answer still...
@Thehiddenreturns Played and unplayed households is the same thing (I think those are the old terms for those tabs?), so yes, the two tabs in manage households. If you only want to delete one Sim in the household, you can split the household so the Sim you want to delete is in their own household, then delete that household that includes only the Sim you want to delete.
If you want to delete the whole household, you can enter the household in Manage Households and either:
1. Select them in the list of households and click the red "X" in the top right of their thumbnail:
OR...
2. Open the household and click the trash can in the lower right:
OR
3. In the above screenshot, click the pencil icon and open them in CAS if you need to split the household. (see Split Household Tutorial at the link above if you need it.) Then once the household is split, you can use one of the two above methods to delete the one you don't want.
@Thehiddenreturns Ohhh... lots of stuff. I'm going to tackle a few by number. I'll give it my best. 😉
1. Yes. If you download a Sim household from the Gallery you can save it to your Library or place it in a lot in your game save. You can also place the household from the Library in your game save. The Gallery is public, your Library is local... local to/in your game only...
But... the Sims in your active (the one you're currently playing) game save that are walking around and/or living in that game save are in "Manage Households" (top right corner of the screen)... And if you open "Manage Households", they will be in the "My Households" tab (households you have played, opened/edited, or 'favorited'). Other households will be in the "Other Households" tab. If you 'unfavorite' (heart) a 'My Households' household, it moves to 'Other Households', and visa-versa.
It you want to add a household into the 'Manage Households' of a save... yes, placing them on a lot or merging them into a household in the game save will add them to the Manage Households area of that game save.
2. If you want to delete a townie, hunt them down in Manage Households. They should be in one of those two tabs. If they are not, they may be an NPC without a home/household (such as the Grim Reaper and some other Sims). If you want one of these in your game you can try developing a relationship with them and ask them to move into your household, then if they do you could go to 'Manage Households' and edit your household to move that Sim into their own household in that game save... then go into their household and choose to 'delete' that household (the "X").
3. I don't have that haunted house in my library, so I cannot test with it, but I assume it will work like other homes/lots in this way:
If you open the lot from the 'world/neighborhood view' (not entered into the lot in live mode but entering in build/edit mode - click the lot and then click the build/tools in the lower right of the screen) to edit it...
...you can then open the 'Venue Info' area (top left corner of the screen)...
Then open the 'Lot Type" selector and scroll down to Rental. Choose that and save the lot. (There are no special lot requirements for rental lots.)
5. If there is an update and you're not seeing the update features in your game, make sure you have updated your game to the latest version. I was going to recommend checking your Mods/CC since you talked about distorted Sims, but if you're on Xbox that should not be the issue. I don't play Sims on console, so I'm not sure what could cause distortions there.
The autonomous mean interactions has 2 different threads, one which has been going for a long time and one linked to a recent patch. One of them has been marked as Solved and was intended to be fixed by SDX (Sims Delivery) that's when you log into your game and get to your home menu and get a message telling you to restart your game as you have a new Sims Delivery. The fix hasn't happened and here is the teams explanation:
Update: The fix intended to go live for this issue with today's SDX drop will now be going live in early December, we sincerely apologize for the delay.
It confused me too as I got a notification it was solved.
I have Paranormal and the Haunted House is a lot type of it's own, Haunted House Residential. A vacation/rental lot is a separate lot type. So I think your best bet is to add the Haunted House, change it's lot type to a vacation/rental lot. Then to keep the haunted characteristics go to the Lot Traits and check they are all spooky ones, if not then add them to keep it haunted. So it's no longer a Haunted House Residential lot type but it keeps the theme. You won't get the same spirits visiting nightly but you can still have ghosts and can still use the sceance items. I don't know if Guidry's paintings still summon him or if Bonehilda will still visit, but give the Paranormal items a try and see what happens!
Another option is to keep it as a Haunted House Residential and get Sims to just visit it through travel as sometimes you can go inside. I do that with empty lots sometimes for camping. If the lot has no locked doors I've got that to work but I've not tried it with the Haunted House as my Paranormal Investigator lives there.
You could also just have Sims move there temporarily for a couple of days instead of vacationing to keep it as a Haunted House Residential lot.
@SheriGR Thanks for the information. However, after reading what you said I'm unclear about the delete a townie option. You said find them in manage household or something. So, I know how to navigate neighborhood stories and unplayed vs played households, but I don't know how to simply delete a townie. I'm guessing that you can go into edit mode from the manage household area, and click on the sim/townie and delete, but I've never tried that with a single person in the household and in the edit cas area. I'm not sure if it would let you delete the household if It's just one sim. Can you go further into detail about how to delete a townie? thanks for your time.
