Best PC for sims 4?
Best PC for sims 4, I just want one that’s going to run the game smooth with all the expansion packs etc. I have looked into it but I just don’t understand what I’m looking for as I’ve never had to, ...
@alexjaynem I played with the U.K. version of PCPartPicker a bit and put together a sample build for you to look at. I didn't include a case or a graphics card, the case because that's a somewhat personal decision and the GPU because the cards you'd probably want are mostly out of stock or overpriced. For example, an Nvidia 1650 might normally be about £140, but the cheapest deal I could find is one that ships from the U.S. and costs over £200 when you factor in shipping and VAT. The same is true for the 1660 variants and the AMD 5500XT.
Without those two components and with a regular Windows 10 license, the total is £519:

I didn't check compatibility on everything because I wasn't sure you wanted to go this route, and I didn't choose the cheapest components, just the cheapest decent ones that I wouldn't feel bad recommending. But at least that gives you an idea of what you might be able to get, that is, if you're willing to wait for graphics cards to be restocked or pay more for what's available now. Or, if you have a friend who got lucky and found the RTX 30-series card they wanted, maybe they'd sell you their current card for cheap.
For the other two options, I'll take a look later tonight if you're still interested in seeing what's out there.
@puzzlezaddictfirst, thank you for taking time out of your day to help steer people in the right direction as to their hardware purchases. There is so much product on the market these days, that i'm sure a lot of people can feel overwhelmed. I hope people truly appreciate the work you are putting in for them.
The only other comment I have is .... yikes.. wow.. looking at some of the prices for hardware right now. It doesn't seem to be the right time to buy.
I priced out the same build of my computer that I have on that website and ouch. CPU and motherboard are on par or below the price I paid .. everything else seems to have gone through the roof. This seems to be the issue, regardless of where you buy from.
I paid $1200 CAD for this set up ... a year ago.

The price I paid also included the shop I purchased from, mounting and cpu to the motherboard. ( which I get, isn't a big deal, but 1 less thing to deal with)
@zoiee2020 It is very overwhelming especially for people who just say know basics, I appreciate both of yous willing to help me!
You both gave me ideas of what I need by just helping me with what you’re using and what @puzzlezaddict seems to know a lot about, very grateful from someone who knows very little!
Prices have definitely gone up here too. I’m not sure I’ll buy straight away, maybe a few things here and there so it’s not all at once and maybe prices may go down soon or eventually.
I’m just mostly doing research at the moment, which I’m glad I came on here and asked about pcs cause I wouldn’t of had a clue if it wasn’t for you guys’ help, thank you!
@zoiee2020 and @alexjaynem Looking at the prices, I noticed that certain CPUs were actually much cheaper than I'd expect, for example the Ryzen 5 3600. I think that's because it can't keep up with the newest-generation graphics cards, but it's certainly more than capable of driving a 1660 Super or 2060. As a bonus, the socket it uses, and therefore the motherboard, is compatible with the current Ryzen 5000 series CPUs, meaning the build would support an upgrade to a much stronger processor in the future. So it's an excellent choice for someone on a budget now but who'd like to have options in a few years that don't include building from scratch.
RAM is also still quite cheap, as are solid state drives. Graphics cards, not so much. That's where it might be easier to buy secondhand from someone you trust; if you're willing to wait, that's fine too, but it might take a while for the market to sort itself out. The motherboard prices seem like kind of a mess, but I didn't look too closely, I just picked a decent board with enough slots and that supports fast RAM.
Anyway, @alexjaynem any time you have questions about a specific component, please feel free to ask.
