Book writing not progressing

My Sim sits down to write a book, however the book writing never progresses. They will sit down and look like the are completing the task, but the progression never changes for the tasks that are on the left of your Sim. Typically you would see the green progress around the action in a circle shape until it creates a whole green circle and the task is deemed completed. It doesn't move at all though. I can try to resume writing the books that I start but they still never progress past the first percent done.
