Can I share Sims 4 expansion packs with my daughter?

Is it possible to share the Sims 4 expansion packs with my child? She has her own account and I have an account.

It is very costly to buy all the expansion packs for 2 separate people in the same house.

  • @barbiep611  No, packs can't be shared between two accounts, even two linked accounts in the same household.  So you'll either need to buy two copies of each pack or play using the same account.

Thanks @puzzlezaddict although a disappointing answer for us :-(

We have been sharing the main game between 2 family members for some time and today purchased an expansion pack on my wife's account as she had enough credit. Now my daughter finds she cannot access the updates so is quite upset. They really should warn on this as most content is shareable as long as the same home console is in use.

XBox Help not helpful as states under 'What can you share'. Maybe the 'special edition' is the catch but would have been nice if they warned.

Share these with anyone who signs in to your home Xbox:
    • Games and downloadable content from the Microsoft Store
    • Games from an Xbox Game Pass subscription
Account-specific items can't always be shared. Some examples are:
    • Game-specific content like Minecraft Skin Mashups or Halo REQ Packs purchased with in-game currencies
    • In-game currency such as Minecraft Coins
    • Certain pre-order bonuses and special edition content that can only be redeemed once

I was coming to ask the exact same question. I have about half of the expansions and game packs that I play but I wanted to share them with my tween daughter... she bought one with her own money and I felt bad when she told me because I already own it but it looks like I wouldn't have been able to share it with her anyway.

That sucks. I hope they change this. Makes me not want to purchase anymore.

Oh well. Thank you for the answer.

  • It's really sad that it can't be shared.  My teen just started playing.  She plays under my account because I already have sooo many packs.  The downside is that we can't play at the same time.  There really should be some kind of family sharing option.
