Can you give heirlooms to adopted kids?

I had my sim adopt a child but when I go to set things as heirlooms he's not on the list of possible recipients? The sims team said that heirlooms can be given to children so I'm not sure if I'm doin...

    @sunniboy Can you link where they said it can be given to children ? Was that during the livestream ? For me it hasn't work on any of them. Just teen and up.

    EDIT: Seem that in the livestream they explicitly said that children were too young.
