Cannot place residential rental lots without changing the lot type manually

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PlayStation 5
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? I don’t know/you figure it out
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? ALL OF THEM!
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play the game and the new expansion pack “for rent” on ps5. Then try to download a residential rental lot from the gallery.
What happens when the bug occurs? I cannot download a residential rental lot from the gallery unless I change the current lot to residential rental manually first. Then the name of the download lot changes and all the rooms and restrooms for each unit reset to 0. Usually when you download a build lot from the gallery you don’t have to change the lot type first it does it automatically but for residential rental lots it doesn’t.
What do you expect to see? I want to be able to download residential rental lots from the gallery, without having to change the lot type manaually myself first. It should just download for the gallery like any other build and change the lot type automatically like it does for restaurants, wedding venues, etc….
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

  • It is wonky anyways. I’m sure they were trying to imitate the sims 3 lot placement, but this one is very buggy. The sims 3 never changed the number of restrooms and rooms to 0 or the name of the build. It would be fine if the units don’t reset to 0 restrooms and 0 bathrooms. Also, if the name of the building and units wouldn’t change to the name of the lot you are placing it to.

I found placing a pre-built lot as residential rental not only caused things inside the units to be set to 0 (0 beds etc), but also didn't appear to actually  load in any of each unit's assets at all. Visiting or switching to a tenant/unit shows the unit as being completely empty. So there really isn't anything there in the units when you place something from gallery or library as residential rental instead of setting it to residential rental while building it yourself, and this is why it's showing as 0s.

TL:DR: saving a fully set up residential rental lot where you see the units as empty due to how game hides them once set up as individual rental units, causes the units to get saved as empty.

  • I don’t know about other builds, but I build the lot in question. I just save it to my library and I tried to place it in other of my save games. The thing that is causing the bug for me is setting the lot to residential rental lot so I can place my build from the library. The reason is the lots from the library or gallery are taking the characteristics of the other lots. That’s why even the name of the building change to the name of the lot you are placing it.

@fjmg_2003 Then it would be better to make the report about the changing the number cause the manual setting is most likely not a bug (they wouldn't go to the trouble of setting up a message if it was).
  • What message?

I found out I need it to change the lot type because it wouldn’t let me place it. So I figured it might be similar to the sims 3 when placing lots. I only like playing the game but  I don’t keep with the sims community forum or such. Also, I never had any message popping out on my ps5 other than when I bought the pack. So I would love if you please share the link to the message so I can read it. Thank you in advance for the help.

  • I'm finding that when I try to place a lot from my Library that has a 'Residential Rental' lot type it won't override the previous lot type (ie: 'Residential'), plus it doesn't even give me the option to change the lot type and place it. When I choose to place a rental lot it simply says "Not available for this lot":

I'm finding that in order to place a rental property, I have to first enter the desired lot and change it's lot type to "Residential Rental" then I can place a rental lot on it:

Unless there's a compelling reason this process has to be this way, I would love to see rental lots have normal placement behavior... either that they automatically override the previous lot type and place, or that we get a option in a pop-up to change the lot type in worldview in the placement process.
