Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system?Yes Please describe the patch or change you made.Even after the most recent patch, none of the bugs/errors, mean sims, UI issues, or the inability to save/exit game have been fixed.
This bug doesn't seem to occur right away. It's occurring randomly after some time into game play. Could be a few minutes of gameplay, or an hour. I'm not sure what is triggering it, but it might have something to do with trying to access a Sims inventory panel. I say "trying to access a Sims inventory panel" because I can't access it at all. It doesn't work.
Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
Repair the game
Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry. Be aware that your claimed event rewards will also be gone for the time being but you will get them back with your other things.
Start a new save game
Check if you still have the error
Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.
That did fix the errors. I can now access everything, inventory, UI is fixed, etc. It appears (this happened sporadically while playing the game, but so far, so good) that I can save and exit the game.
You can now start to copy back things from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old to the new Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder that was created.
First only copy (I suggest to copy so you can go back in case anything goes wrong along the way) the content of the folder Saves(these are your save games). If you are prompted if want to overwrite a save, decide if you want to keep that testing save you just made or not. If not, just overwrite if, if you want to keep it, rename the save to a different number that isn't taken.
Test just your save game with nothing else added back. If that works, you can start copying back the rest. If not, check back.
You will need the following folders
- Tray (your households and lots you have saved to library)
- Usersettings(.ini) (your event rewards) - Custom Music (if you added any) - Screenshots (if you've taken any) - Videos (if you've taken any) - ConfigOverride (if you made any although I recommend redoing those) - Options(.ini) (although I recommend to just redo your settings in the game)
Now test again. If that still works, you can put back your mods. Put them back in groups and make sure they are still compatible with the game.
Hmm. It seems to be a problem with my old saves. I think they were corrupted in the update? I'm not sure if that's a thing or not.
After I followed your instructions, and kept out all mods/cc (even disabled them in the game options). The only thing I transferred over was my save file and the usersettings.
I tried to play my legacy family save and it is giving me an infinite loading screen, even though it played the music as if the lot had loaded.
*Editing to add that I SUPER Appreciate you getting me this far! Just happy to see the game working at all at this point haha
Okay, I don't know if this helps... but when I load up the save, instead of clicking on the "main" family's house and trying to load/play them, I tried going to another household in that world (an extended family member) and was able to load them up just fine. It is very specifically my played household family in that save.
*Editing to add that I can access the family through manage households (CAS) and access their lot through Build mode. But actually playing them still causes infinite loading screen.
I did notice while in CAS, that all of my EP, GP, SP, Kits, etc content is missing.
All of the files are there on my computer, EA app has them all as installed. I only have one EA log-in, and I've repaired and cleared caches.
I tried to find solutions to this issue on here, but it all seems older, with most of the solutions involving the Origin app.

It's caused if you had a cc object that added milestones and then remove it. The mod should fix it. If you can load the family afterwards, you can remove the mod again.
