cinema

hello.

It would be great to update the cinema pack or create another one that can offer a cinema experience to ours sims. Something that we can lead like in the restaurant pack. I'll be glad to go with my sims in a cinema, buy a ticket, shares a good times(or not😉) with their beloved and friends.

Let's go to cinema.

  • @steveent117 Obviously this is not the same thing as a 'go out' pack, but if you are not aware, there is a "Movie Hangout Stuff Pack". https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/pc/store/mac-pc-download-addon-the-sims-4-movie-hangout-stuff

It features two fantastic TVs (projector screen - one designed for indoor and one for outdoor), has the popcorn maker (wonderful item that has the ability to 'grab a bowl' after made until gone and it doesn't go bad... very helpful for hungry toddlers), my favorite curtains & beanbag chair, and great fashion and BB items if you, like me, love Boho fashion.

Personally, I have not played with this idea in my gave, but it may be fun to try combining a movie setup area, or make a dinner theater, with your Dine Out pack restaurant? I have added a TV and bar area in a restaurant my Sims owned and it certainly doesn't go without notice. Restaurant customers gravitate toward getting out of their chair and watching TV there also. Anyway, it would be interesting to playtest various ways of setting this up, even if it was just an area in the restaurant with a bar and TV?

If you don't own the pack you can also set up a wonderful and very enjoyable 'theater' room in your sim home. You could even try 'enlarging' the tv one time with MOO and setting the seating up like in a theater! 🙌

  • @steveent117 I agree with @SheriGR You can make a fairly decent movie cinema with the Movie Hangout stuff pack. I put this one on top of the Stargazer Lounge in San Myshuno. I wanted to make it look like a real-life cinema, but I went with something a little bit smaller because it's really hard to get more than 8 Sims to all do something at the same time. If you create a club (from the Get Together EP) you can make "Watch TV" one of their club activities and your Sim and their club friends will sit in the seats and watch the movie. I even put a couple of the popcorn poppers in the back for them to have something to snack on.

I tried the Shift +] trick to make the screen larger but then it got too big to fit in the room! xD

Anyhow it makes a nice hangout spot for my clubs and a fun group activity for my Sims.

    I hope this helps :D

@RandomBuzziness I love your theater!! Yes, that's exactly what I meant, and I really need to make some use of clubs in this manner, as that's a fantastic idea!! Thanks for sharing the images and specifics for your lot. Well done, young lady! 🙌

  • Just so you won't be disappointed with the solutions offered when you try them in your game:

    1) Your sims may not sit down in your movie theatre, and you can't stop uncontrolled sims from standing in front of your sim in the audience

    2) While watching, someone might walk in and just change the channel

    3) Your sim might suddenly decide to stop watching the movie if they finish eating a bowl of snacks because they will walk to the nearest or furthest coffee table to put the plate down.

This is just to.. inform everyone to manage their expectations. :D

(For the reasons mentioned above I eventually just gave up and bulldozed my cinema. But it looked good! Just couldn't get the cinema experience out of it.. )

@siirysiir There are work-arounds for some of that:
    1) It can be a bit tricky to keep Sims watching tv for very long, but a Sim movie is only like 2 minutes long in real time. Some of my club members moved around a bit while they watched the movie, some of them sat for the whole thing. I had "watch tv" set as their club activity, so that is what most of them did.
    2) If you use the club system, then you have the option to lock the door to your theater room for non-club members. By locking it while the movie is playing, you can prevent townies from coming in and changing the channel. I have an entire lounge downstairs from my theater room, so there is still plenty for the townies to do. Counting my Sim and her club members, I had 8 total Sims in the theater. There would've been more if I had a larger household, so up to 15 Sims all watching a movie is quite a crowd for Sims 4.
    3) I don't recall any problems with bowls and plates for snacks. I thought those just disappeared on public lots when Sims finish whatever they are eating? I'll double-check this the next time I play.

  • Hi There!!!!

It would be beneficial to update the existing cinema pack or introduce a new one that provides a more immersive cinematic experience for our Sims. This could include features similar to the restaurant pack, allowing Sims to purchase tickets, interact with other Sims, and enjoy shared moments (or mishaps) with loved ones and friends. The ability to attend a cinema with Sims would be a welcome addition to the game.
