Please use this thread for issues with week 1 tasks. If you have issues with placing the stuffed friend near stuff, make sure to turn off moveObjects.

I had the same issue, but instead of the 'toybox' task, it was the 'place near the bed' one. It did actually work in the end, so just sharing here:
After it didn't check off, I randomly started placing it, while in Live mode. I tested it in all spots around the bed, everywhere possible but it just wasn't registering. I then replaced the bed with a base game bed, just in case. That didn't work, so I swapped it out again.
Then, I randomly went to place it near the bed again just to try, and it completed! It was in a spot I'd already tried placing so many times, but it finally registered it.
I do not use the Move Objects cheat, and the house my sims were living in was a default San Sequoia starter home, in a brand new save. Playing on Mac. MCCC is the only mod I use (up to date). I'm not sure if this helps at all, but thought I'd share just in case.
