Commands not assigning to Sim

Issue started about a few days after the update earlier this month (had played since update with no issues - did not purchase Lovestruck, either). The game starts up normally. It allows me to click on an object or Sim, but the command does not actually populate for the the Sim to do. I cannot switch Sims either. However, if I click the menu in the top right corner after issuing a command or switching Sims, the command will pop up or the Sim will switch. I have tried removing mods, repairing, uninstalling and reinstalling - nothing has worked so far.
