Complaint about Sims and EA games

Seems like there are nothing but issues with ea games. I've been an ea games customer for about 20 years. I had the very first SIMS game from the year 2000. I never had issues with game play when I had the disks. Online gameplay with Origin or Steam is where the problems started happening.

@gvftredxI played sims since sim 1 and there were always some problems especially with sims 3, but the reason for it was usually the open world not all computers could handle, but sim 4 is a bundle of frustration and poor design. So many issue need to be fixed by modders. I have no clue what the Sims team is actually doing but the list of mods I had to put in to just make this game playable is shocking. From speed up showers to simply allowing basic functions like kids walking pets. From simulation lag improvements to better emotional control. This game is so badly designed. I don’t get it why make it worse? There are so many functions that were simple and worked very well in previous installments. Open for business is far better then retail in Sims 4 that is riddled with problems. They removed open world to improve game play. That’s fine, but they forgot about adding actual game play. The animations were cut by 60% and they removed any actual hands on challenge. When ever they add new content, expansions stuff packs it’s completely disconnected from material that is already out. Just putting issues and creating a fractured game lacking in cohesion. Look at generations. How beautifully was it created. It combine the entire game into one cohesive unit. This adding packs just to dump new content is disgraceful.I don’t even think they bother play testing. Example I created a climbing club using mt komorebi and get together and guess what the activity was added to the list but not connect to game play because Sims in clubs do not actually do it. I can probably write a book on all the things that are either worse from previous games (telescope that takes up space of a lot?, microscope the size of a vehicle? A cup cake what the Ef is that thing?)or do not work at all. I mean objects that are too large, emotions that are a mess, lack of animation, shared inventories, expansions that connecting with each other, lack of any challenge, family, friends, enemies and lovers in profile blurb only (no actual game play that reflects these connections). Life simulator is a joke. Hate to tell you sims team but I don’t do push ups during weddings ceremonies and don’t weep for death if every stranger and family members should gather to watch candles being blown or a kid aging not talking to plants. I don’t get up and sit down and get up and sit down and get up and take a steps in million directions during 5 min conversation. I don’t know wtf was this development team thinking, but this game is a mess on every level except build mode. I gave up on the Sims development team giving me effing Christmas crap instead of fixing the atrocious persistent simulation lag, or fixing expansion with absurd amount of problems (get to work anyone?). But hey give me new skin tones. I mean I do not need to play this game I guess I can look at it. Because proverbs are more important then having a game that doesn’t have Sims doing the wrong things at the wrong time. I will not get Sims 5. This is the end of my journey with Sims. This game is ruined. Greed and people focusing on bull made sure of it.

  • Console players aren't doing much better. I'm on a new next gen Xbox purchased specifically for the Sims 4. It's disc free and was great until I installed cottage living on the day of release. That pack should have a warning on it for the amount of bugs it caused. I'm struggling to even load up my game. It crashes at least 3 times before the plumbob has crossed the screen. Yesterday it took 10 attempts to load, today it was 3 then it crashed twice during travelling and took a further 3 attempts to load again.

I see the patch notes every time and think what? Bonsai tree retextured, are you kidding me? When I can't play my game easily and I'm not the only one.

The bugs in gameplay too, I've got around 70 issues. From at least 5 broken careers, Doctor, Detective and 3 freelance careers. I've got Sims flickering around, walking through solid objects, eating and watching TV standing up, being overly flirty or mean, acting autonomously. The action queue keeps emptying. My windows disappear and at least 2 Del Sol Valley lots are so bugged they are unplayable. I would happily sit and do the flower arranging skill all day but that's bugged too so I can't make them timeless. I can't touch the Mac makeup or skin tone sliders or my Sims get neon makeup stuck that can't be removed and they've known about that for months. Fireworks don't light, curtains don't hang right. Modular furniture keeps emptying. Sims Deliveries crash my game. Neighborhood stories means the phone never stops ringing.

If this was any other faulty product it would get returned. It wouldn't get a tiny inconsequential thing fixed with a jokey comment and handed back to me. I've got a good sense of humour but after months of wasted money, with about 1k spent on hardware and content that is currently verging on unplayable I'm rapidly running out of patience. I see cottage living on sale looking so appealing when I think it should be temporarily withdrawn from sale until it's fixed. But that would need someone to be listening to the people whose games it's wrecked.

I'm surprised this thread isn't full, but give it time. If it hadn't already been started I'd have started it myself. In 20 years of playing the Sims I've never been so disillusioned with it.

But hey, the bonsai trees have never looked so well textured so there's that.
