Dead Sim Grim Reaper and wife don't know

Thank you for all that important info! I had no idea I could protect the households of special Sim friends, I know almost zero about Neighborhood Stories.
The 2 times now that Thorne has asked me to a con I wanted to invite him to join my household, but I didn't have that option either time.
My Sim can make Ambrosia and has all the ingredients, I just need to get it to Thorne. Having it on hand isn't an option, since his invites are random, so always keeping it in my Sim's inventory is a no-go, and having it in my fridge is useless, since invites by others are an instant drop-everything-and-go.
This game makes me feel dumb on SO many levels. LOL

The key to getting a ghost to join a household is to have high friendship.  If you don't, the options usually don't show.  And if your household already has 8 sims, you won't ever get the options, or they will be greyed out.  When you meet up with him again in person, keep talking to him to get the friendship level up as high as you can and when it gets high enough, the options appear.  I think they will show when you get the bar to where you get the wall notice that you are now good friends, but I may be mistaken, and it may take a little more.  So, just keep at it until the options appear.  If you don't mind using cheats, you can turn on testing cheats, then shift-click on him and use the cheat relationship option to max friendship too then one or other of the options should be there (join or invite).  So, there is another way to do it if you are having trouble getting the friendship up.

Once you click on him and use the option, he should agree, and his portrait should almost immediately show up at the bottom left of the screen alongside your other household members. I have never had a ghost refuse to join.

Thank you some more! LOL So Thorne is definitely bugged then. When he died he was my Sim's Best friend with relationship maxed, but the Join Household never occurred, no matter how many times I refreshed it. Could it be because he's a major Proper Celebrity NPC with a family? Join ANY household (including his actual one) never came up. Think I even used the testingcheat [shift]click on him and the option wasn't there... but not sure...

Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot he was a celebrity.  He's in my game but I don't see him around much and never played that household.  Celebrities are different than non-celebrity sims.  You have to get the celebrity to acknowledge you before you get the regular social menu options.  So, you have to keep hammering the attempt introduction option until they wave and make that sound they do when they acknowledge you, then you get a few more options and finally get to the regular socials.  With some celebrities it can be really hard to do.  A lot of the time, even if you cheat the friendship and romance bars, it is still hard to get by the attempt introduction, especially since that option has a cooldown and you can't spam it. So, all I can tell you is to keep trying.  

Again, if you are willing to use a cheat, with testingcheats on and shift click on Thorne, you can reset him when he tries to walk away to keep him there to talk to but sometimes that doesn't work.  They will still walk away.  But if it does work, it will let you keep trying to introduce your sim to him.  Sooner or later, he will acknowledge you if you keep at it but sometimes it can be really hard to get there.

If you have Lovestruck, there might be another way.  I have not tried it myself, but I've read about it in a few places.  One of the last updates, according to what I read, gives the option to ask a ghost on a date via the phone.  But in your case with a celebrity, it may not work, because a lot of the time, celebrities won't show up to choose as a date when you haven't met them.  As I said, I have not tried it and really don't know how it works. But you might give that a try if you can.

I found Thorne's urn, hurried home and made Ambrosia, then went back to his urn and called him to manifest. THIS time I had the option to ask him to join my Sim's household, and he DID! YAY! My Sim passed the Ambrosia to Thorne, Thorne ate it... and he's alive again! A major goal achieved, I'm REALLY happy. Now, how to get him back with his family. LOL

@CGrant56Thorne is a Proper Celebrity, my Sim is a Global Superstar. We've been BFs most of the time I've been playing this Sim. 🙂 But he needs to be back with his family, so how to do that? Can I just play Thorne and have him go there and rejoin his family? Maybe play Octavia and have her ask him to join their household?

That's great!!!!  I'm glad you got it all worked out. 

Actually, I am surprised you found the urn.  When a sim dies in a household you are not playing at the time, you usually get no urn or tombstone unless you are at a venue and the sims dies while you are there.  It seems to be hit and miss on that though.  So, it looks like problem solved.  Enjoy your game!!!

Sorry, we were typing at the same time.  To get Thorne back to his family, just move him back via Manage Household.  If you want him back to the way things were before he died, you'll need to have him remarry Octavia because the marriage ended at his death, and she should be showing as a widow.  He will have lost his job too, so you'll need to give him a career too.  If he had anything in his inventory it should be in the household inventory but that can be hit or miss.  Sometimes you lose everything.  But he will still have things like completed aspirations still complete, skills will be at the same level, etc.  Job and marriage are the big two things that have to be set right again but that's up to you.
