Dead Sim Grim Reaper and wife don't know

My Sim's BFF died, but my Sim wasn't notified of his death, I just noticed it when scrolling through my Sim's friends list. Since my Sim is also BF with Grim, he summoned Grim to beg for his friend's...

    That does sound like some type of weird bug.  But if you have Neighborhood Stories active, sims you know can and, at least a few, will get killed off.  So, you can take a look at and adjust your NS settings in Manage Households to protect sims you want to stay in the game.  

    Since you already had it happen but had him call you to meet up somewhere means he is still in the game and can be saved by asking him to join an active household.  Typically,  when a sim dies, the ghost will be culled in 90 game days.  But you can resurrect him by one of the resurrection options in the game if you can do it within the 90 day window.  Ambrosia, Book of Life, wishing well and the Dedeathify spell are the ways I know but there might be one more I've forgotten.  The latter is the easiest as all you need is a spellcaster that has learned the spell.  After you have the sim in a played household again, he will be safe from being culled and you can take all the time you need to resurrect him.  So, if you can find him out the world somewhere, you can save him from culling.  You have to use either the ask to join household or the Invite to join the household option to pull it off in person since ghosts usually are hidden and you can't do a direct move via MH.

Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot he was a celebrity.  He's in my game but I don't see him around much and never played that household.  Celebrities are different than non-celebrity sims.  You have to get the celebrity to acknowledge you before you get the regular social menu options.  So, you have to keep hammering the attempt introduction option until they wave and make that sound they do when they acknowledge you, then you get a few more options and finally get to the regular socials.  With some celebrities it can be really hard to do.  A lot of the time, even if you cheat the friendship and romance bars, it is still hard to get by the attempt introduction, especially since that option has a cooldown and you can't spam it. So, all I can tell you is to keep trying.  

Again, if you are willing to use a cheat, with testingcheats on and shift click on Thorne, you can reset him when he tries to walk away to keep him there to talk to but sometimes that doesn't work.  They will still walk away.  But if it does work, it will let you keep trying to introduce your sim to him.  Sooner or later, he will acknowledge you if you keep at it but sometimes it can be really hard to get there.

If you have Lovestruck, there might be another way.  I have not tried it myself, but I've read about it in a few places.  One of the last updates, according to what I read, gives the option to ask a ghost on a date via the phone.  But in your case with a celebrity, it may not work, because a lot of the time, celebrities won't show up to choose as a date when you haven't met them.  As I said, I have not tried it and really don't know how it works. But you might give that a try if you can.

@CGrant56Thorne is a Proper Celebrity, my Sim is a Global Superstar. We've been BFs most of the time I've been playing this Sim. 🙂 But he needs to be back with his family, so how to do that? Can I just play Thorne and have him go there and rejoin his family? Maybe play Octavia and have her ask him to join their household?

    Sorry, we were typing at the same time.  To get Thorne back to his family, just move him back via Manage Household.  If you want him back to the way things were before he died, you'll need to have him remarry Octavia because the marriage ended at his death, and she should be showing as a widow.  He will have lost his job too, so you'll need to give him a career too.  If he had anything in his inventory it should be in the household inventory but that can be hit or miss.  Sometimes you lose everything.  But he will still have things like completed aspirations still complete, skills will be at the same level, etc.  Job and marriage are the big two things that have to be set right again but that's up to you.

      Poor Thorne, he's all messed up, but at least he didn't lose his job, he's still a Police Colonel (work in 7 hours). I discovered why his wife said she didn't know him, she doesn't... he's never met her either, according to his Friends List. He only knows his 3 kids and my Sim, that's it, no others in his list. Maybe most of his list was erased when he died. He's got a Bad Reputation, too, that surprised me! Need to work on fixing that. How do you get a Bad Reputation with Mischief at 1?!
      Since he has no romantic relationship with his wife, I've decided to have him live with my Sim for a while so my Sim can Mentor him. Thorne's Aspiration is to be a Musical Genius and my Sim can help with that, he's maxed 23 skills so far. (Building my Sims' skills is how I enjoy playing, that and building houses.)

        Okay, I moved Thorne in with his family, used cas cheat and reconnected Thorne's family relationships. Actually, he was already shown as father of the 3 kids, he only needed to be redesignated as being Octavia's spouse. Strangely, SHE wasn't listed as a member of the family, even tho he was. More weirdness. He's so happy to be back with his family he might explode, in fact, they're ALL really happy. LOL
