Deleted Save
Hello, I'm in deep hell right now. Once the game loaded up it showed me a completely different Sim that I've never played. The couple of times I have tried to play her the game always froze up. So, t...
kdaviss324 From what you've said, I have gotten the impression that you attempted to delete the sim by deleting the save with her portrait on it in the save list you see when using the Load Menu. The portraits on the saves there are the portrait of the last household you played before saving so if you see her there in the topmost save in the list, you must have saved at some point while she was active before the game froze up.
So, imo, there are 2 things going on. First, you tried to delete her by deleting the save. That will work but it also deletes everything you did in that save prior to her magically showing up as you have found out. The correct way to get rid of an individual sim or household is to go to Manage Households and find them there and delete that one household. If you do not have any other saves in your Load Menu that predate her showing up in the save you are deleted, the good news is you fixed the problem, and the bad news is you lost everything you did before the problem showed up because of the way you went about getting rid of the sim. When you delete a save, it is immediately deleted and gone for good with no way of recovery regardless of platform. Even on PCs and Macs which have trash bins where deleted files go when you delete them from a lot of apps and OS file managers, but which can later recovered, The Sims 4 does not do that and afaik, they probably can't do it. Most other games that allow you to delete saves while in the game don't either.
The second thing, it's probably a good thing you did delete the save. Based on what you said happened, it really sounds like you had something go really wrong in the first place. Unknown sims and households other than the last one you played do not show up on the save portrait unless something has gone wrong in a big way. So, imo, you are probably better off to start a new save anyway since the one you deleted was showing a couple of the signs of a corrupted save. Continuing to play a save once corruption sets in only makes it worse and there are no known fixes that work once a save file has corrupted. You only choice is to start over in a new save file.
There is one bit of good news. Any sim you made in CAS is automatically saved to your Library on exiting CAS the first time. And if you saved your lots when you built or remodeled while in build mode, those will be there too. So, look in your Library to see if any of your sims and lots are there. But if you didn't save the lots while in build mode, they are gone for good.
Hope this helps.
