If you're not opposed to using Mods, there is a mod by TwistedMexi which will enable you to rotate this to your desired effect. - SheriGR6 years agoHero
@AudreySugg I had originally put this up as a bug report, but it was moved here to be feedback. Turns out that this is how columns normally behave, but it just seems annoying with this one since it has distinctive sides, and in certain placings it can be inconsistent since it snaps to the direction it will accept.
Since posting this I did re-arrange the posts on the home I was working on in the original post, and I changed the placement of some of the posts to accommodate the game's 'auto' behavior. (You're welcome to see what placement choices I made if you want to check/experiment with that build: https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/pc/gallery/94D08901C0F711EA8C985A33F2A459FA).
I did find that they usually worked well as a 'support' placement, just not always as a 'corner/edge' decoration.
I do really like the columns, though, and I found that I could add them several places by being a bit 'creative' (methods like adding or extending roofing over the area or other trial and error stuff.) (I also use MOO regularly when placing, though I test to make sure it's not needed to place the lot.) It is a hassle, but like many aspects of building in Sims, being forced to try new ways and workarounds sometimes helps me learn. Or sometimes just makes me frustrated and exasperated.
I hope you're able to find ways you like for placing the columns in your lot in the end. I would love to see it, if you want to share?
