floor doesnt work on porch/fenced rooms

Okay, so I'm trying to build a second floor balcony. When I surround the porch with full-length walls, there is no issue. However, as soon as I change the walls to fences (in order to create the balcony), I am unable to place anything in the room. It acts as if there is no floor there (but there definitely is a floor as when I highlight the room and click the floor it gives me the option to remove the floor). My sim is unable to walk on it and also acts as if there is nothing there if I tel her to walk there (gives the thought bubble with the footprints and the 'X'.) I tried repairing the game, removing the thumbcache and even did a bunch of batch fixes on S4S (just in case) but NOTHING is working. I have re-outlined all the surrounding rooms, tried to add the fence in multiple different ways, added and removed the ceiling of the porch on the first floor, but nothing that I try is making a difference. I have attached a (really poor quality, sorry) screen recorded video of the issue in my game. Thank you in advance for any insight you may have!

  • @manderino777  This is odd.  I create my balconies the same way most of the time.  The only thing I could not see is if you have placed a door so a sim can access the room. All I see is a window.  So my 1st suggestion is try placing a door.

I also couldn't see what the roof looks like over the room.  There are some interactions between fencing and roofs that can cause what you are seeing as the game somehow thinks a roof should be there and will not let you place objects in a space where a roof goes.   So my 2nd suggestion is to temporarily remove the roof and see if that lets you place the objects.  Once you get everything in place then try again.  You may have to install the roof in several pieces for everything to work.

Another thing you can try is to construct the room on the ground and move it into the final position.

Since you mention using S4S, then I suggest you remove all your mods and cc and see if that makes a difference.  It could be a cc item causing this.  Most of the time, I do my new builds in a separate save without mods and cc then save it to my library and then install it in my main save from the library.  So trying that will rule out if cc is the cause.

    I hope this helps you.
