Game and Mods on External Hard Drive Problems

Okay so I have my Origin and SIMS 4 downloaded to an external hard drive instead of on my computer.  I am trying to put all my Mods on the hard drive as well.  I have moved the electronic Arts folder that was in Documents folder to my external hard drive, but every time I load the game it recreates the folder and won't load my cc on my hard drive.  please advise.

How did you download the game onto an external hard drive? I tried but it won’t let me. I don’t have the storage on my pc to download. Is there something you has to do? Thx

@Suzyqabc72  Create a folder on your external hard drive where you want the game to go.  Open Origin, hover over your username, select Application Settings, then the Installs & Saves tab, and select the folder you created as the install location.  Then download the game.  It should be installed to that folder rather than to your internal hard drive.

You can also move a game to an external drive after it's already been installed, at least in Windows.  Open your Origin game library, right-click on the game's icon, and select Move Game.  Then select the destination folder on the external drive, and Origin should take care of the rest.

Notice that in addition to what @puzzlezaddict wrote you must have enough free space on the system drive for temporary files. If you do not have enough free space you can temporarily move some data to the external drive while installing..

@Camillesimoni  Does your computer run Windows or macOS?  How exactly did you move the custom content to your external drive, and did you create a symbolic link for the Sims 4 folder?
