Game Does Not Truly Load

I recently played sims a week ago on my laptop and had zero issues with anything but I went to start the game via Steam today and it does not load. It acts like it is starting up but then nothing ever truly starts up. When I try starting it from EA itself it does the same thing. Nothing ever truly loads. I only have 2 DLC's and I have had them for a while. I have tried every other game I have and all are performing just fine. Please help.
