Game won't allow changes/unpause

I just started a new household and started building my house no issue. I saved and exited and when I returned I could only make 1-2 changes before the game would freeze. I can select new objects/paint colors etc. but I can not actually place them. When entering live mode the game will not unpause even though it shows the game is one forward (highlighted green). I have removed all custom content and it has not resolved the issue. Everything is up to date.
