Game won't pause or unpause

I've just started playing after the 12/3/24 update with the Cozy Christmas event; My game will get frozen pausing or unpausing, or the Sims in my household will be paused, but other world Sims (Sims not in my household) won't pause and continue their actions. Even when I press Esc to go to the options menu, the world Sims keep moving and my family remains frozen.

They also won't register commands immediately. It will take at least one minute for the task bubble to pop up in the queue, and sometimes it will just delete.
