Help, my elder sims have become immortal.

Hi, I've been having this issue for the past two months, I've tried everything online but nothing seems to work. My sims age normally, but when they reach their Elder years, they become immortal (age bar changes to days lived and doesn't advance - like a vampires). I use mods. Has this happened to anyone before, if so how can I fix this?

I found the mod disabling aging, it was the royalty mod by Ilazynieph. Thank you for all your help.

  • mjdeacha What??  Can't run the game vanilla?  Ok, then try a clean user folder.  Just follow the instructions here:  📓[GUIDE] Clean User Folder Approach | EA Forums - 12690428.  Once the game is running, take a look at a couple of elders in the new save to see if aging is disabled for them.  (You will need to add SimsInfo before you can see that.  No other mods).  You might want to create an elder in CAS to see if that sim has aging disabled as well.  Once you do that, then shut down, add your mods folder, restart to see if those elders become immortal.  Finally, swap in your current save and look at those elders again to see if anything has changed.  Hopefully, during this process, you can determine if a mod is causing it.

    Hope this helps.

I have aging on in the game options menu. I don't have any mods that explicitly turn off aging for elders. I've tried to do a mod free save but the game won't even start.

  • mjdeacha I'm being Capt. Obvious here, but do you have aging off in Game Options?   That is the easiest explanation for this.  I did a quick google and there are a few other mods out there that turn aging off for elders.  Do you have any that have that feature?

One other thing, have you tested this in a mod free save?

    Hope this helps.

SimsInfo says Aging/Age Up/ Death: Disabled/Disabled/Disabled for every Elder :(

they've all stopped aging altogether. every single elder. I've checked flags and traits with MCCC, and searched info on life span on MCCC, but nothing works. I'll try SimsInfo. Thank you

mjdeacha Depending on how you've played the sim, it can take what seems like forever for an elder to die.  Just completing the bodybuilder aspiration will nearly double the elder life stage so it looks like the bar doesn't move unless you pay attention to the actual number.  There are other little things that can have an effect on how long a sim lives too.  Spellcaster potions for example.  Have you used the immortality potion on any sims.  That usually only works for elders if I remember correctly.  It's been a long time since I've used one.

But, if your elders have stopped aging altogether, do you have any mods that affect aging?  Have you set a flag with MCCC for instance?  You can also check to see if a sim is truly immortal and how many days are in the sim's life span with SimsInfo (originally by Itasan, now maintained by Frankk).  MCCC can give you the info too, but I find SimsInfo easier.

    Hope this helps.

I think you haven't read the full post. They fully stop aging, the age bar doesn't advance, they never die.

  • mjdeacha That is normal.   There is nothing to fix.  Once a sim reaches the elder life stage, days left in the life stage change to days lived.  They are not immortal and will eventually die when the bar fills unless they die earlier from something like overexertion, meteor, drowning, etc.

    Hope this helps.
