Hens wont eat treats (cottage living)
I've been trying to get rainbow eggs and a golden/evil chicken but every time I try to feed a treat to one of my animals it spawns on the ground on the porch (front of the lot) even though my chicken...

I'm not sure exactly what you have going on. I've had no problem with chickens and the animal treats. But what you describe with the treat being on the ground sounds off to me. So, I wonder how you've been trying to feed the treat to the chickens.
Here's how I do it. Place the treats in the sim's inventory. Go to where the chickens are. Click on a chicken and use the option to feed a treat and you get a menu listing all the treats (the ones not in the inventory will be greyed out). Then the sim sort of pours the treat on the ground and the chicken comes over and eats it. Afterwards, when you mouse over the chicken, there will be a note in the tool tip telling you what kind of egg the hen will lay next time. If it was a golden or obsidian treat, the chicken will transform into either a golden chicken or evil chicken.
