Home Mortgage
Could we get the ability to take out a mortgage to purchase a home (and a business/restaurant, if we have GTW/Dine Out)? Perhaps it could include requirements similar to what you would need for a hom...
I have mixed feelings on this!
Pro: It would be amazing for realism! Almost no one buys a home with cash. And there are already student loans…
Con: I kind of like that almost everything in the Sims is on a cash basis because I think that’s a better way to run your finances, if possible.
The latter is kind of a personal quirk, and I think this would be an amazing addition to a personal finances pack that included real estate, banking, home mortgages, etc.
@xochiquetzl_xkvn You make excellent points that I agree with. Perhaps rather than making it a pack we could get some financing options added with the ability to disable them in settings... depending on yow 'realistic' we want to play a particular game save or household? I' don't know how the details would pan out most usefully, but I'm more thinking of the type of situation where you have a 'starter' household for whom it is reasonable, or a 'mid-level' abilities/income household for whom moving up a bit ahead of current financing is very feasible and would not kill their finances. 🤔 Perhaps done in a way that is a bit of a realism option, if you so choose.
I think the pack idea is also reasonable, if it could include enough meat and detail to make it useful as a 'financing' pack. Maybe adding aspects like allowances, investments, etc.? That would also be a situation where I would want toggles on which options to add.
Allowance, yes! I've just started using the SNBank mod just so my teens who have part-time jobs can save the money they earn for college, or roomies can keep their finances separate. Allowance would be a very welcome addition. While it's hilarious and awesome when you're a business owner and a child buys an $8K painting, maybe Bella and Mortimer shouldn't give little Alexander access to the main household checking account. 😉
We also have investments, but they're only available to the Investor branch of the business career right now. It would be nice to expand on that.
The main thing I'd like to add is the ability to own multiple properties. Not just a second home, but... to buy the gym and rent it out to the people who manage it. That kind of thing. That and individual accounts, if you're roommates or a teen with a part-time job.
@xochiquetzl_xkvn I must admit, I have been a bit surprised at the free-wheeling ability to spend the children and teens have when I was running a store also! (Though I agree, it can be a hoot! 😂)
