I have a teenage Sim, Level 8 violin skill. She needs to write four songs for her Musical Genius Aspiration goal. It is taking FOREVER! She's been working on the same song for what seems like a week. Yes, I do go into her inventory and choose the sheet-music so she is working on the same song (learned that the hard way). So how many hours does it take to write a song? It only takes a few hours to write a book.
I spent a couple of sim weeks writing a song. After that I gave up on the music business.
way too long. Johnny Cash once told the story of waking from a dream one night, and then inspired, he wrote 38 verses of what would become his hit song "The Man Comes Around."

Hi @AnnieBannanie2 not sure if you like the idea of using mods (you can always disable them when you're finished) but there are a few for 'Quicker Writing of Songs' you can make an account here for [search via ModTheSims] one for all songs 'licenced' if you want; Crafting - Licencing Books, Songs & Lyrics Always Available is another mod of his I have, also writing books faster and heaps of others.
There's also a mod by Telford at mod the sims (you may have to do a search) if it does not link here. I use Coolspears though, and got the mod originally from Mod The Sims, but think he's moved all his mods over to SimsAsylum so search there too and you'll need to make an account,
