@candiecoatediv We handle lots of building questions. 🙂 What is your question?

Wonderful! @SheriGR
Im trying to build a bunk bed and/or loft with a bed on top and desk or bed below. I’ve followed several tutorials in which I enable move objects, move the bed up with 9 and the height of the bed is at least the height of the sim but the sim just waves her hands in the air as if something is blocking her path. So I loved the desk and/or bed and she still will not use the bed. I’ve also tried with putting dressers and bookshelves on the ends and it still doesn’t work but the tutorials show that it works. Is this something that no longer supported like the workaround for different foundation heights since the update?
@candiecoatediv Thank you for sharing details. I have also seen some videos on this and would like to give it a try myself...
I can experiment in the morning (it is nearly 4am here currently - so I am too tired to focus on it now and falling asleep watching this video) but at this link I see a similar video to what I saw before. In the other one there was more tweaking of the location of the bed and items below it until it worked for the sim to enter the bed successfully. If you notice in the video the stairs up the bed are just for show, as the sim does not use them to mount the bet... they just sort of teleport/hop up into the bed. https://youtu.be/Qyy8QtO-4eQ I will try these things in the morning also, but my initial assumptions is that:
- You use MOO, etc., as you mentioned.
- While tweaking to get the build to function in this bed area, I would recommend removing all obstacles around the bed completely - just have the bed in the empty area( and begin experimenting with what locations and heights your sim can successfully manage for entry into the bed after you have elevated it with MOO and '9' or '0' height adjustments.
- Once you have found the proper height for the sim to enter the bed successfully, begin adding other items in the area to see which ones may block/break the function ot not &/or which adjustments to them (location of the items in the area) that does or does not work.
These are the things that I will experiment with in the morning. I'll let you know what I find out. In the mean time someone in a different area of the world or sleep pattern than me may advise you also. 🙂
@candiecoatediv Still looking into this. I am having no success getting them to enter the bed once it is elevated at all, even if it is the only thing in the room. I'm wondering if this functionality was broken with one of the Nov/Dec patches or the new terrain tools? I will let you know if we find out any more information or can make it work....

@SheriGR @Thank you. I’m trying to work on this as well on an empty lot. I’m starting to think that yes, this is another creative work around that is no longer working.
Yea, ive been having this probel too, watched the video, still didnt help :\
@candiecoatediv So... when I tested I tried many things and could not get the 'bunk' or 'loft' type of set-up to work. The things I tried included using an empty room with standard or medium height walls and nothing at all in the room... or even with the walls 'erased' so it is still a room just without walls... and no matter how barrier free I make the room (including testing with or without the shelf at various places and heights) the sim would not enter the elevated bed.
Now I was experimenting at about 10-12 levels raised (number of "+9" times) since anything lower I figure would be useless for creating a functioning 'bunk' or 'loft' situation. BUT... @stbnchristine also did testing and she did find that she could move the bed up 1 or 2 levels (number of "+9" times) with high walls and the sim would enter the bed, but at 3 or more levels up the sim will not enter the bed.
Sorry we didn't find a work-around or method of getting bed bunks/lofts to work properly, but thank you for reaching out. If anyone else has additional thoughts or experiences on this please post as many people would love to see this or some other function/work-around for making usable bed bunk/lofts work again!

@Vjbutler1313 moved your post over to the current discussion on this. Please check if @SheriGR answer will help you
@candiecoatediv Changed your title a bit to reflect the issue better.
Carry on.
How to make a bunk bed
@0226044681383 wrote:How to make a bunk bed
Apparently considering all of the tutorials on bunk beds and the number of them in the gallery, it used to be an item that, if made and 'tweaked' to just the right heights and layouts could be used by a sim. Unfortunately this has apparently broken/changed at some point. Below is a summary of some of the information in this thread...
Unfortunately the bottom line answers that we found were:
- The highest you can move a bed up now with MOO+9m and still have your sim be able to enter/use the bed is two clicks up. This is obviously not high enough to add a bed under it.
- In the case of the bunk beds I created to test and the ones I downloaded from the gallery all of the top bunks were not usable, though if it is laid out right occasionally the bottom bunk is usable.
- You may be able to build a bunk bed with MOO on that has a bottom bed that is functional IF it is placed perpendicular (at a right angle) or adjusted to the to the one above it in a way that you tweak positioning for until your sim can get into it... so in other words, the top 'bunk' is in this case is only a decoration and not functional.
- If you would like to see some examples of YouTube videos of bunks being built and tested with a sim that show that they used to be able to enter the bunks in some cases please check these video tutorials:
https://youtu.be/qGgCqpF14Xk
https://youtu.be/hP-T3djnSUI (go to about 3:30 into the video)
So, basically if you download a bunk from the gallery or make your own, it will likely not be usable for anything but a decoration. I hope that EA adjusts whatever code/function that used to allow for functional bunkbeds so that the sim can enter them once again, as I think it if a useful item to add to a room, and a fun one figure out a way to build in a way they can use - a nice creative build challenge.
