How to get my sims 4 on a new laptop with the same account?

Okay, so I got the sims 4 and I installed it on a new laptop. Unfortunately that laptop died completely to the point where I can't even access any home screen ect. It's saying there's no hard drive on the laptop. I basically just have a black screen and I can't access anything. I'm going to be sending it off to get fixed.

I'm just wondering in case they don't get my files back how can I download it onto a new laptop on the same account? Because it's still technically on the old drive that failed.

  • Yes, copy everything onto a memory stick and take it to your new computer.

What I have done in the past is copy my whole Sims 4 folder to my usb key (memory stick) and take it to my other computer and copy just the files and folder I want into the new Sims 4 folder on my other computer. For example:

    - Options.ini (User game settings)
    - Tray Folder (Sims/Houses/Commercial lots and rooms)
    - Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    - Rest of the save games, if any.
(leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave. It is not used anymore.)
    - Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, makeup
    - Mods (Put these back one by one to make sure they all still work)

Please note some mods and custom content become outdated with every game patch released. This means you'll need to go through your mods folder to find what needs to be replaced.
