Literally same. I have played the sims for decades but I'm going to stop if this is how it's going to be...

@inquyI may launch the game if I have to check on something but I’m not playing. I just quit without saving and I’m not gonna play again until this crap is over since there will be no “opt out”button!

Thank you for this. I would be much happier, EA, were you to allow for us to see what the thing is about, (which is the ONLY reason I clicked on the checkmark). Sadly, once I did that I was trapped. A pretty lousy thing to do to those of us who have spent our hard-earned money supporting you through the purchase of these games.
Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Mac
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? NA
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? NA
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? LOOK
What happens when the bug occurs? DISRUPTS GAME & DECREASES ACCESSIBILITY
What do you expect to see? I expect that there won't be forced pop-ups / timed missions that are impossible to close or opt out of.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. I did the forced update and now there is a forced Death mission on every gameplay screen. It is disruptive, disappointing, and horrible user experience.
SIMS 4 FORCED DEATH MISSION POP-UP WITH NO OPT OUT FOR MORE THAN 30 DAYS
Since when do we think it's okay to have a forced mission introduced to the game to promo an upcoming product. Why is there no way to opt-out and close the forced Death mission? Not only is this the least appealing addition to the game ever, it literally disrupts and disturbs desired game play.
There is no reason the user shouldn't be able to close the mission and opt-out. The Sims is not intended to be a timed game. It is a sandbox game and so the users should never be forced to see a mission. The death mission icon is crowding the screen and it is a constant annoyance. If the user isn't interested, they shouldn't have to see it. Trying to forcibly insert timed missions into the fundamental experience of the game is a shift that is disturbing and not welcomed. This game and expansions were purchased, it wasn't a free game, so forcing advertisements in unwanted missions is tacky and invasive in a game that was purchased. Make sure the user can close the pop-up and opt-out as not to ruin the gaming experience. It's truly awful.

Oh my god, I really really hope they make this an in-game option to turn it off. I shouldn't have to go into the game files to remove this annoying popup. I minimized the reaper task window, went into build mode, exited build mode, and the task menu re-opened itself. And it doesn't close until you minimize it. I just wanted to hop on to play for an hour or so before bed. Not spend that whole hour troubleshooting the game. I'm so frustrated...

This worked for me, though it did glitch out the Discovery Quests at first. I went in and turned them off in the settings and it took me closing them 2 or 3 more times before it finally registered that I had turned them off.

It worked for me, too. I don't do the quests, so my game seemed unaffected by its removal. Thank you so much puzzlezaddict I'm no longer stressing out while playing my game.

Can you enable it back in if you want to?
VeryStar Yes, reenabling Online Social Features will make the Reaper event show up again.
