How to turn off time-limited events

I shouldn't have to mess around with game files to fix this. I'm not comfortable doing that. This is ridiculous, I enjoy roleplay farming. None of this occult stuff. 

It should disappear from our games soon. Sorry you have not been able to participate in the event.

You appear to have missed my point entirely. I DID participate, unwillingly, in the event. I did not want to, but it was so intrusive that it was my only option for reducing the CONSTANT interruptions to my usual gameplay. 

I'm begging EA to make future events of this type OPTIONAL. Please!!!

Some of us weren't even given an option. I clicked on the checkmark, just to learn more about it. I had no idea that by doing so it would automatically opt me into this annoyance. It's disruptive to my gameplay. I'm very busy writing a story that I share with others. Diverting my time away from that even for a quick let's-get-it-done, throwaway save isn't an option. Also, the only way to foreseeably remove it from the game, also removes access to the Gallery, I have sadly discovered. This whole thing is unconscionable.

Now that this headache event is over, with the exception of the Grim Reaper Icon that is said to remain until November 26, I hope they DON'T ever do these reward events EVER AGAIN, especially since you can't opt out of it! For me, these reward events defeat the entire purpose of what The Sims 4 is supposed to be, where the entire point is to do whatever you want and NOT be forced to do specific tasks, but these reward events are a major conflict to what the point of TS4 is! I'm sure there's a lot of Simmers out there who think the same thing. Again, they need to stick with SDX updates if they are planning on offering free stuff, as reward events don't work and no way to opt out, plus the reward events do not help matters at all and are only causing more frustration than ever.

I thought they said this stupid thing would be finished this week. I log on and it’s still there! Ugh

0k today I am officially fed up and disgusted by the whole grim reaper saga, i want to file a complaint to EA. WHY is the Reaper Still in the EA app when i login to play Need for Speed ?

For some reason, the Grim Reaper Icon has finally vanished when I started a new save today (Yay for me, I guess). So needless to say, I don't have it anymore, despite the fact that it's not November 26 yet.

This is a picture for proof it's gone for me (don't mind all the signs).

Is it possible to opt out of the Cozy Celebrations event? Not really interested, and don't see any options to hide or remove it. Thanks!
