I can't place the medals from the military career into the display case

Hello to all.

    There's a post about this issue already, but there's a message from the admin., stating that it's old, and I need to start a new topic for the same issue. So, here it is. I played through the Strangerville DLC. I had my sim join the military career, and he got medals and a display case to put them in. When I first got them, everything worked, I was able to place the medals into the display case. After I finished the story, the house was too small, so I moved the household to a lot in Henford, which is from the Cottage Living DLC. Now the game is telling me that I don't own the medals and I'm not allowed to move them in the living mode. I can't place them into the display case or the sim's inventory or move them around the lot. I can move them around in the build mode, I ended up placing them on shelves in the build mode. But I went through the trouble of getting the display case and medals, but the display case and medals are rendered useless and pointless because of this issue. It's nice that Maxis gives us all of these things that we can enjoy. But it's sad that they are rendered useless because of badly thought-out programming. I have tried to restart other careers, to correct an item being deleted by accident or dealing with moving to a new lot and having the items lock. This happened to me in the cooking career. It was the special kitchen cabinets that were locked. But my sim can only restart the career at the same level that they left at. This game doesn't allow me to restart the military career at the beginning level to regain the medals. I won't be able to use that idea as a work around. Is there a solution and/or is there going to be a solution for this? Because this has happened to me in numerous careers. It's quite frustrating to go through all of the trouble to get rewards, just to have badly though-out rules or bugs to ruin the experience. There was also a sale on DLCs going on that ended around the same time, and my game was buggy. Maybe the download of the sale's end bugged out my game?

    Thank goodness this seems to be fixed, now. Plates can be dragged to the garbage, same with dog piles, and medal and element displays can be utilized.

    EDIT: The latest patch solved this problem.

    I have never had a problem with metals being put into the display case until the last patch in July 2025. Now I can't drag and put the metals into the display case. My sim lives in Oasis Springs. I have no mods. I can drag them to the floor and my sim can pick them up but NO way to get them into the case.

    That bug has been around before the last update. I've struggled with it myself. Two of my Sims have completed the military career after moving from StrangerVille to Del Sol Valley with no issue whatsoever; they could use the medal cases and put their medals in. No problem. Then, when they moved to Brindleton Bay, the problem popped up out of nowhere. I can set up the cases, I can drag the medals from the household inventory to the floor or surfaces, but whenever my Sims try to pick them up, the game goes "this item doesn't belong to them". I have long stopped bothering with this but now that I've found this thread, I might try the solution posted by Knariah below and use the cheats. For the record, I think the handling of those medals is set up in a rather stupid way to begin with. They have to be in the Sim's inventory so they can be placed in those cases but you cannot drag them from the household inventory to the cases.

    I can drag the medals onto nearby surfaces or floor, but not into the display case.

    I'm playing a sim I started in 2023, recently began playing again and put her in military career track. She's currently a Warrant Officer and none of the medals will place into the display case that came with the career track. 
    I started her in Oasis Springs and have not moved her.

    Hello to all. 

          Thank you very much for the information and/or work around, but I shouldn't need to go through all of this trouble to get this to work. This is more trouble than it's worth, especially if I have this on my Xbox Series X. I do have this on my PC version, and not my Xbox. But, wow! LOL! I still like to see this repaired and patched. I'm moving, so I won't be able to play for a long time. So, I won't need a fix and patch for a while. So, I'll just wait, but I'll keep your guidance in mind if they don't fix and patch this

    @madelf69 This has happened to me as well. The only work around for me on mac/pc was to enable cheats and use the cheats bb.ignoregameplayunlocksentitlement, bb.showhiddenobjects and bb.showliveeditobjects then grab them for the build and buy to be able to place them in the case.

    Hello to all. 

       I followed your suggestion. I've already tried everything that, the person that you recommended me to read their solution. I've tried everything, Nothing works. I've tried putting the items in the household inventory, removing them, nothing works. I've tried to put them in my sim's inventory, but the game states that I don't own the medals, the game's rules won't let me do anything in the living mode. Just so you know? This is not my first time playing the Sims 4 or making requests for answers or looking for solutions to problems that plague this game. I've read numerous replies and solutions. If the solutions worked? I wouldn't be posting my issues. I don't want to complain, I want to enjoy my Sims 4 game. I have better things to do than complain about this game. I just finished searching for an answer to an issue where I can't rotate my lot or house in the build mode on my Xbox Series X. It keeps switching to the tools, instead of rotating the house or lot in the build mode. The only thing that I do know is that there are numerous problems on my Xbox Series X version and my PC version of the Sims 4. The longer I play the worse it gets. Please give me some real answer, and not a run around? Of course I read some of the other replies and actually tried the solutions. Nothing worked, my Xbox Series X and PC version of the Sims 4 is riddled with bugs. Please help?
