Industrial Footprint in City Living

My Sim lives in an apartment in City Living and has for quite a while. The eco footprint will not improve, not even to neutral. I cannot place solar panels, etc b/c I live in apartments, etc.  The house is in compliance with Community Actions. I have upgraded all the appliances  to water recyclers, fuel cells, etc, etc.

I cannot stand the yellow fog. It ruins the site lines of the Landgrab Apartments, which I worked very hard to afford. LOL.

Any advice or help?

  • @EmMac1066 The most effective and fastest way is choosing the right NAPS. There's only two I find useful for making the hood green and pretty. The Modern Development one, and the Green Initiative one, all the other NAPS more just affect you playing style and not the environment.
  • @EmMac1066 I think it also matters what the other lots in the neighborhood have? You could go edit all the neighbors and make sure they have green appliances and paint etc.

@PipMenace Sorry, but that have no effect what so ever on the environment. It's fun to do for storytelling purposes, but it will have no effect on the footprint.
  • @EmMac1066I've turned my Eco Footprint off in Game Options.
I still follow the Eco plan but I took everything off including NPC votes for NAPs so that I could control it all myself.
I've found that the Eco Footprint works best in Evergreen Harbour but doesn't always work as well in other worlds. Whether it's by gaps in the design or because of glitches and bugs in my game. So I put it on for Evergreen Harbour and turn it off when I change worlds.
But there are some San Myshuno apartments where you can use things like solar panels, etc but not many. There's a couple of apartments where you can edit the whole thing so you could test it on those lots. In Uptown I've replaced the Skyscraper Lounge with a penthouse before. You can build the entire thing from scratch similar to the way you build a house so that's one option. There's also the Fountainview Penthouse in the Arts Quarter where you can build a new structure or add a roof with solar panels or wind turbines.
This is how I do it but my Eco Living has had a few bugs here and there. I've had to find a way to kind of work around those.

Edit: just thought of a couple more lots in San Myshuno, there's the Torendi Tower Penthouse in the Fashion District and the Old Salt House in the Spice Market. Both of which have gardens so may be better options for Eco Footprint impact. So that's one in each residential area of San Myshuno.

@simsplayer818 Evergreen Harbour is my favourite hood of them all, and I've played through several families and scenarios and careers in that hood. I know by extensive playing, that the only thing that change the environment in the hood are the two NAP's I mentioned.
Nowadays, I sometimes cheat, and just get the NAP's without earning the points first by shift-clicking the mailbox, to get that pretty hood. Sometimes I deny my hood those two NAP's and keep the hood fuming and trash filled for storytelling purposes. I have however, not experimented with any other hoods, so it may very well be worth some further studying. However, you will never get the whistles and bells in other hoods, just the green footprint one, though I doubt it will last. But worth a test. ✌️

@BylineBelife I've done the same with the trash filled lots for my crafters to get as much trash as possible...just not in their own neighborhood! 😆
I choose those NAPs you mentioned too, most of the others take over too much. They have such big side effects like Dazed residents or obsessive future cubes! I did have a bug in my last game where all neighbourhoods had max NAPs automatically and I had to get one Sim and his tent to move to every area to repeal the NAPs I hate which are Free Love and Roughhousing Encouraged. Luckily when I started a new game altogether that didn't happen again.
