Is there a way to reverse a Sim turning down your romance interaction?

I have these two sims-- Lacey and Cate-- who I created and wanted to have get together. I've successfully done this before a million times; I get the sims to the same location, play as one, flirt with the other until they have enough romance, you know the drill.

I updated my game on 7/26 morning and was super excited about the new in-game options for asking about romantic interests, woohoo interests, etc. I had Lacey and Cate on the same lot and was playing as Lacey with the intention to continuously flirt with Cate until they could kiss and get together. I went into CAS and made it so that both their romance and woohoo interests included each other (attracted to women only).

However, when I had Lacey flirt with Cate one time, Cate turned her down and said that she just wanted to be friends. No big deal, I thought. I'll just try again later or go in as Cate and flirt with Lacey. I couldn't do this though. The romance options were greyed out on Lacey's end, and when I played from Cate's POV, the options were all completely gone except "ask about woohoo/romantic interests."

Thinking it would go back to a default eventually, I played for a couple more sim days, but to my disappointment, the romance options were still unavailable.

I tried cheating their romance level, restoring an old save from before Lacey and Cate initially met, and exiting the game multiple times. Still no change.

It would be different if these were random townies, but they're two sims I made with the specific intention of having them be girlfriends and it's super frustrating! Especially since before yesterday's update, I'd done this before with zero problems.

I'm wondering if there's a cheat to somehow get rid of Cate turning down Lacey? I feel like there isn't, but I'm holding out hope. Might have to just completely remake the sims and try again though ☹️

  • @realdoctorMD This has happened to me before after I lost my entire game and had to recreate some of my couples, without wanting to just pair them up in CAS. I mean unless they are married you can't do that in CAS. (Unless the new update has added the option to link someone as a partner/gf/bf/fwb, I haven't loaded my game yet.) That's an option that would be useful.
What I did was switch play between the 2 Sims. So Athena dates one of the Bro household, but he wasn't having any of it when I tried to pair them up again. I alternated play from her to him and then got him to shower her with attention, built the relationship and ask her out since he had been the one holding out on her. Got there eventually! Watch where you take them to build the relationship if they are taking their time about it, somewhere virtually deserted is better so that NPCs don't pester. I used the deserted beach in Sulani or The Bluffs and created a nice date area to keep everyone happy with the environment (if you have IL/GT packs). If they chose a date at Magnolia Promenade or the city it made their relationship much worse for all the interruptions. It got on my nerves this one!
