Island Living: Unpopular opinion

I feel that Island living is really underated. I comes with alot of good gameplay for all lifestates, toddlers can play in water, build sandcastles, etc the whole faimly feels involved with the gameplay and I love the "community" aspect. Mermaids I wil agree were poorly done. But the rest of it was done very well including the counters which are the best in the game. CAS was very nice for all ages, BB was good all-round. Anyone else agree?

@PugLove888 I noticed Simple Living and Off the Grid when used together for some reason stopped my Sims being able to use the campfire to cook. You've just reminded me, I don't think I reported it so I'll check. I mean, there is nothing more appropriate for simple off the grid cooking than a campfire! I had to remove the lot traits as my shipwrecked Sim sat there waiting for their mahi mahi and getting quite upset.
I'd better test it first and then report it if it's still not working.

@gooochyeee I find it the most relaxing world to play too. In lockdown it saved me from climbing the walls lol. It's just so chill to have a Sim scuba diving or snorkelling or taking a jet ski out. Even just the fishing aspect of it is better than other packs because of the scenery. I like the food stalls there too and I love the waterfalls.
One of my favourite and trickiest builds was a houseboat in Sulani and I've got it to rebuild since I'm starting a new game, I miss the boat we had in Sims 2.

@simsplayer818 , I never tried it with the Simple Living lot trait! ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜“  I hope it works because I think we all can agree with you that a simple campfire to cook things like fish and hot dogs is pretty much as simple as it gets!

That is really beautiful that this pack helped you get through Lockdown! ๐Ÿฅฐ

@gooochyeee , it is a beautiful pack and has some unique gameplay!  I do understand their wanting to market the Mermaids, but you are right in that they should have focused on the more developed aspects of the pack!  Well, at least the Mermaids look fantastic! ๐Ÿ˜

Yeah, I agree that the marketing was off. It does feel like they planned more at some stage that didn't make it into the pack (Sulani culture, mermaids, one of the maps is named something that implies that resorts were planned at one stage), but what they have... I love that it's not, you know, WASPy North America. I love that the Welcome Wagon an the neighbors are different. I do love mermaids and play mermaids a lot, but I also harp on their tombstones and bassinets and lack of skill tree.

BUT. I love that you can change Mua Pe'lam with gameplay, and feel like Island Living introduced a lot of features that were expanded on in Eco Lifestyle (another pack I like a lot and use a lot and bought for my off-grid mermaids). The active career is great, and I've copied you, @PipMenace, and bought Caldera Camp as a "business" (one of my conservationists is rich) and then I made a club and have my Conservationists have "club meetings" when they go to work, so they see their coworkers. I use the club "together" whenever a work action has that option, so they're all taking samples from the ocean together, etc.

I do, however, have to UI cheat away the WFH task "go snorkeling" for my mermaid Conservationist still...
